GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 3 Hazen at No. 6 Des Arc

Hazen likes to play power football, running for 400 yards last week in a 34-6 rout of Dierks. Matt Tenison, Darius Mosby, Cameron Vail and Marcus Smith run behind a big line anchored by seniors Kendall Cook (6-0, 255) and Brody Goode (5-10, 185). Des Arc RBs Cody Robinson, Justin Hollis and Jordan Holloway ran for more than 100 yards apiece last week in a 42-12 blowout of Rose Bud. LAST WEEK
Hootens.com correctly predicted 26 of 31 (84 percent) games involving Class 2A teams. Hootens.com is 78-21 (79 percent) for the season.

WEEK 4 PREDICTIONS (favored team in CAPS followed by point spread.)
3-2A

Cross County at EPC (10): Preseason league favorite Cross County is young and lacks speed and depth. All-state RB Michael Bowles moved to Earle in the spring and top backup Rubin Hill injured a knee Week 1 and could miss the rest of the season.
Walnut Ridge at McCRORY (15): No. 8 McCrory starts nine seniors, including outstanding RB Boyd Williams.
Marked Tree at AUGUSTA (8): Augusta toppled EPC last week. It handles Marked Tree this week to set up league showdown with McCrory Week 6. Marked Tree's LaTre Daniels ran for 96 yards and Anthony Smith rushed for 136 yards last week in a 34-14 win over Cedar Ridge, the first victory for new head coach Waylon Dunn.
Cedar Ridge at SALEM (11): Salem playing better defense than a year ago.
Palestine-Wheatley at RECTOR (5): Owned a 1970 Ford Galaxie back in college but I rector. Rector drove through P-W 36-6 in 2008.

4-2A
Hackett at MAGAZINE (42): Magazine beat Class 4A Subiaco Academy 33-27 Week 1, while Subiaco hammered Hackett by 40 points Week 3.
SPRINGFIELD (MO.) LIGHTHOUSE (18) at J.C. Westside: Missouri home-school team likely the best team on Westside's schedule.
Western Yell at CUTTER M STAR (12): This is a repeat of a Week 1 non-conference matchup that Cutter M. Star won 28-0. Mark Vilavanh scored Western Yell's first TD of the year last week in a 42-8 loss at Danville. Led by Jeff Rasabong on defense, WYC has improved after three weeks as evidence in a 0-0 score to start the second quarter at Danville.
UNION CHRISTIAN is open. Union Christian beat better-than-last-year Panama, Okla., 27-21 last week. UC senior quarterback Aaron Collins has accounted for 800 yards of offense in three games. UC's Caleb Hurst, Michael Wilkerson and Coy Wineland average more than 10 tackles per game.

5-2A
MOUNTAIN PINE (2) at Bigelow: Both teams struggling, which is surprising after 5-2A coaches picked Bigelow to win the league and Mountain Pine to finish third. Bigelow tries to overcome injuries and academics. Mountain Pine tries to overcome lack of effort and execution. The loser might not make the playoffs.
DANVILLE (6) at Conway Christian: Numbers and expectations are higher than a year ago at Danville where the Little Johns go after their first league title since 2002.
Quitman at HORATIO (1): Horatio is young, inconsistent and looked it last week in a 44-0 loss at Class 3A Episcopal.
TWO RIVERS (35) at Lutheran: Two Rivers, formerly Ola, employs talent all over the field and showed it can play some defense last week in a 21-8 win over Mountain Pine. Sophomore QB Blake Noakes performed like a veteran, running for 103 yards and three TDs on just 11 attempts.

6-2A
HAZEN (2) at Des Arc: See 2A Game of the Week.
Marvell at CARLISLE (37): Carlisle handed its former coach James Clayton and 3A Perryville a 14-0 whuppin' last week, holding the Mustangs to 84 rushing yards. Carlisle's Player of the Game, Travis Harrison, ran 14 times for 77 yards despite a nasty, dislocated finger.
Hughes at CLARENDON (28): New coach Hugh Lumpkin has Clarendon organized and playing hard.
Palestine-Wheatley at RECTOR (5): Owned a 1970 Ford Galaxie back in college but I rector. Rector drove through P-W 36-6 in 2008.

7-2A
Mineral Springs at MOUNT IDA (1): Mineral Springs RB Shawn Richardson accounted for all three scores in the Hornets' 26-22 loss to Lafayette County.
MURFREESBORO (3) at Dierks: Dierks gave up more than 400 yards rushing last week at No. 3 Hazen in a 34-6 loss. Murfreesboro managed 113 rushing yards against 3A Magnet Cove with QB Tyler McRae running for 60 yards and a TD. McRae completed 17 of 29 pass attempts for 135 yards, including 10 completions to Garrett Gills. Gills and Drew Cox paced the Rattler defense with 12 and 11 tackles.
Foreman at SPRING HILL (13): Spring Hill scrapped at 3A Bauxite last week but lost 21-7. Foreman beat winless Fouke 24-0.
Quitman at HORATIO (1): Horatio is young, inconsistent and looked it last week in a 44-0 loss at Class 3A Episcopal.

8-2A
JUNCTION CITY (45) at Norphlet: Top-ranked Junction City stuffed Woodlawn 35-0 last week, holding the Bears to 2.2 yards per carry. Junction City allows 101 total yards per game.
Hampton at WOODLAWN (12): Woodlawn, running Coach Marion Glover's Wishbone, did not complete a pass in five attempts. No need to pass this week.
Strong at BEARDEN (17): No. 2 Bearden was idle last week after getting a forfeit from Dermott. Strong drove 87 yards in 90 seconds to take an 8-0 halftime lead against Norphlet and won 20-6 in the rain. Justin Ford returned a kickoff 61 yards for a Strong TD.
Dermott at SMACKOVER (2): Smackover RB Chas Booth ran for 109 yards and two TDs last week in a 20-12 loss to 3A No. 25 Parkers Chapel.
HERMITAGE (12) at Benton Harmony Grove: All-league receiver/free safety Tyler Courson leads one-dimensional Hermitage with 400 receiving yards and four interceptions. Sophomore QB Jacob Farrell matures weekly. Senior linebacker DeMarcus Smith paces the Hermits with 34 tackles.
