GAME OF THE WEEK
White Hall at No. 2 Watson Chapel

These rivals enter on different circumstances than a year ago. Both lost their season opener in 2008 to teams they defeated last week. Both used the ground attack to win and defending the run will be key to victory. Watson Chapel avenged last season's 54-16 loss to Warren by rushing 44 times for 342 yards in a 34-20 victory. Senior quarterback C.J. Branch (6-3, 215) carried 16 times for 161 yards and two touchdowns. Branch also connected on four of six passes for 109 yards, including a 36-yard TD pass to junior Mitch Lane (6-2, 180). Warren pulled to within eight points in the second half, but Lane intercepted a pass early in the fourth quarter and another with one minute left.

White Hall overpowered Lakeside 38-28 with the seventh best rushing performance in state history. Senior tailback Larry Walls (18 carries for 404 yards, 22.4 yards per carry) scored on runs of 65, 92, 70 and 68 yards.  The Bulldogs amassed 527 yards.  Junior A.J. Richardson (5-11, 185) carried 14 times for 119 yards and a TD.
