HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 11 Heritage at No. 7 Cabot.
It's the first meeting of the schools. Heritage, decimated by injuries early and losers of five straight, is somewhat healthy again and challenged Fayetteville last Friday. The War Eagles, now in their third year of football, trailed just 25-20 at Fayetteville but committed three fourth-quarter turnovers to lose 35-20. 7A-Central tri-champ Cabot rides a six-game winning streak into postseason after losing two (Har-Ber and Conway) of its first four games. Har-Ber and Conway beat both teams. Har-Ber won at Cabot 28-10 Week 3 and four weeks later at home over Heritage 56-7. Conway broke open a tie game late to win 34-14 at Heritage a week before blowing out Cabot 41-7. Since beating North LR 14-7 in overtime Week 5, Cabot has scored 34.25 points the past four weeks. This week's winner travels next week to FS Southside, which has advanced to the state finals three of the past four years.

Heritage at CABOT (4): Game of the Week.
North LR at FAYETTEVILLE (8): The fastest team in Arkansas visits the most improved defense in the 7A West. North LR's speedy youth (10 run the 40-yard dash in less than 4.5 seconds) exposed Van Buren's defense last Friday just like Conway and Cabot burners the previous two weeks. North LR, running a more wide-open attack recently, has mercy-ruled two of its past three opponents. Fayetteville's defense is faster and playing with better pad level this fall. Fayetteville quarterback and University of Arkansas commit Brandon Allen continues to play almost mistake free. A quick look at North LR's 45-0 opening loss at Bentonville should make Allen salivate. Friday's winner plays at undefeated 6A East champion West Memphis in the second round.
Springdale at BRYANT (9): Winner plays at No. 1 Bentonville in the second round. With 995-yard rusher Rahmon Taylor out for the remainder of the season, Springdale turned last week to K.D. Jones (14 carries for 141 yards) against winless Rogers. Quarterback Joseph Calcagni (University of Tulsa commit) completed 8 of 10 passes for 161 yards last week. Bryant's potent rushing attack racked up just 169 yards at LR Central last Friday. Bryant defensive end Josh Hampton, arguably the best in school history, is on the State Farm Awards watch list for Class 7A/6A Defensive Player of the Year.
LR Central at HAR-BER (42): The 8-2 Wildcats wallop the 2-8 Tigers. So, like Conway, Har-Ber has two weeks to prepare for next week's meeting.
