HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 11 Lake Hamilton at No. 2 Benton
Lake Hamilton has won 10 of the past 12 meetings with Benton, including the past two years.
Lake Hamilton slapped Sheridan 36-0 last week, the school's first shutout since a 2012 37-0 playoff win over Marion. The Wolves outgained the Yellowjackets 351-99. Lake Hamilton's Wing T attack has rushed for 2,585 yards this year (7.4 yards per carry) and 29 touchdowns. The Wolves' backfield committee consists of junior Malik Brewer (917 yards and 10 scores), junior Dealond Lewis (569 yards and five TDs), sophomore Carlos Brewer (434 yards and seven TDs) and junior Braden Braughton (315 yards and three scores). Junior Braden Qualls (64 tackles) and senior Kanaan Williams (62 stops) anchor the Lake Hamilton defense which surrenders just 15.8 points per week.
Benton must recover, emotionally and physically, from last week's 62-33 loss at Greenwood which likely cost the Panthers the 6A West title. Benton racked up 500 yards of offense at Greenwood but forced the Bulldogs to punt just twice. Benton all-state running back Zak Wallace left the Greenwood game with an injury, but could play this week. Look for sophomore DeAnthony Harper (84 rushing yards and a TD at Greenwood) to earn more carries if Wallace is out. There's no timeframe on senior quarterback Colen Morrow's return for Benton. Sophomore QB Garrett Brown impressed at Greenwood, completing 25 of 47 passes for 384 yards and three TDs with just one interception.

WEEK 9 PREDICTIONS (favored teams in CAPS followed by point spread)
6A EAST
Jacksonville at MARION (6): Jacksonville must win out to make the playoffs. Jacksonville last week managed just 11 total yards in a 3-0 overtime loss to West Memphis. Marion clinched its first winning record since 2011 in a 28-20 victory at Pine Bluff. The Patriots rolled up 426 yards and led by as much as 28-12. Junior running back Anthony Price rushed for 241 yards and three TDs. Marion has too many options on offense with the return of Price from injury.
JONESBORO (10) at Sylvan Hills: Sylvan Hills clinches a playoff berth with one more win. Sylvan Hills forced two turnovers and did not punt in last week's 40-35 win at Mountain Home. Jonesboro rolled up 404 yards of offense in last week's 41-17 win over Searcy. Sophomore Albert George ran for 86 yards and two scores. Jonesboro earns the No. 2 playoff seed if it wins out.
Mountain Home at SEARCY (20): Mountain Home misses the playoffs for the second straight year. The Bombers last week amassed more than 400 yards of offense in a five-point home loss to Sylvan Hills. Sophomore QB Dawson Tabor accounted for four TDs and kicked two field goals. Searcy earns the No. 3 seed if it wins out despite last week's loss at Jonesboro. It was the first game this season that senior QB Peyton Wright did not throw a TD pass.
Pine Bluff at WEST MEMPHIS (21): Pine Bluff needs to win one of its final two games to qualify for the playoffs. The Zebras managed just 218 yards last week against Marion in a torrential downpour. Pine Bluff led Marion 12-6 in the second quarter but surrendered 22 unanswered points in an eight-point loss. Pine Bluff junior QB Tyler Foots, who has missed the last three games, had knee surgery last week and is out for the season. West Memphis, a 21-point favorite last week at Jacksonville, managed just 159 yards and won by three on junior Colin Clark's 24-yard field goal in overtime. West Memphis senior running back Latavian Thomas has rushed for 105 yards or more six times this year. The Blue Devils clinch at least a share of the 6A East title with this win and can earn it outright with a win next week at Mountain Home.

6A WEST
Lake Hamilton at BENTON (10): See Hootens.com Game of the Week.
Russellville at EL DORADO (1): Massive game for playoff implications as it likely decides the No. 3 playoff seed, a first-round home playoff game and a slightly easier draw. Russellville recorded its third shutout of year last week, and logged its season-high scoring night, in a 48-0 drubbing of LR Hall. El Dorado escaped 24-21 last week at Siloam Springs behind Alex Hicks' three TDs. Russellville is the second-best scoring defense in the league (allows 17.7 PPG) while El Dorado scores 30 PPG (third in the league). El Dorado is 2-2 at home this year and the losses were to Class 7A Cabot (27-10) and Greenwood (44-27).
GREENWOOD (28) at Sheridan: Sheridan must win out and get some help to make the playoffs for the first time since 2015. Sheridan absorbed its third shutout this year last week in a 36-point setback at Lake Hamilton, where Alden Lucas rushed for 58 yards. Greenwood scored a season-high 62 points in last week's 29-point win against Benton. The Bulldogs converted on 11 of 14 third and fourth downs and racked up 564 yards of offense. Sophomore running back Hunter Wilkinson bolted for a career-high 162 yards and four TDs.
SILOAM SPRINGS (21) at LR Hall: Hall has been eliminated from playoff contention. The Warriors gave up 437 yards in last week's 48-0 loss at Russellville. Siloam Springs retains an outside shot at earning the No. 3 or No. 4 playoff seed. Senior all-state running back Kaiden Thrailkill punished El Dorado last week, rushing for 238 yards and two TDs in a three-point defeat. A Siloam win sets up a big Week 10 game with Russellville.
