No. 1 Junction City at No. 2 Bearden
Junction City beat Beardon 27-26 on the final play of the game to capture the 2012 state championship. The Dragons topped Bearden 20-14 a year ago in the regular-season matchup. Junction City has reeled off 18 league victories in a row. Junior running back Jaqwis Dancy ran 13 times for 214 yards and two TDs last week in a 40-24 win over No. 4 Rison. Bearden counters with junior QB Jamond Young, who leads the Bears with 158 rushing yards and three TDs. Bearden's front three of junior DE Tony Johnson, senior NG Darwin Parham and junior DE Austin Hall dominated Hampton last week. Bearden starters held Hampton to minus-3 yards rushing and one first down (by penalty).

GURDON (18) at Marked Tree: Gurdon senior QB Austin Kirkpatrick opened the season a perfect eight of eight passing for 127 yards and two TDs at rival (6-3A member) Prescott. Sophomore linebacker Jackson Kirkpatrick paces the Go-Devils with 19 tackles, including eight solos last week at Benton Harmony Grove.
CROSS COUNTY (35) at Marvell: Cross County piling up yards and points after an 81-57 win over Harrisburg and a 42-14 victory over Brinkley. Marvell has lost 27 in a row.
Hazen at E. POINSETT COUNTY (2): Hazen's defense shut down 2-3A Rose Bud 46-13 Week 1 and McCory 22-0 last week, allowing 180 yards this year. Senior LB Lucas Tennison leads Hazen with 23 tackles. Senior Jacob Walker has recorded 19 tackles, including six for loss. Sophomore DE Khalid Mills has eight tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and three fumble returns. EPC opened with a one-point victory over 3-3A favorite Rivercrest, which just beat 5A East Greene County Tech by 12 points. EPC junior QB Aaron Scales has completed 16 of 29 passes for 186 yards and four TDs with one interception. EPC allows 218 yards per game with junior DL Zach Maddox collecting a team-high 23 tackles. QUITMAN (1) at Cedar Ridge: Cedar Ridge flying high after knocking off Clarendon last week, its first win since Week 8, 2011.
MAYFLOWER (1) at Salem: Mayflower junior RB Justin Bailey generated 267 yards and three TDs in last week's 52-41 loss to Dardanelle. Bailey left the game in the third quarter after injuring his ankle with the Eagles leading 41-35. Junior QB Adam Dycus has completed 40 of 78 passes for 579 yards and 10 TDs this season. Salem beat the Eagles 34-28 last year.

MCCRORY (27) at Manila: Mistakes thwarted young McCrory last week in its 22-0 loss to Hazen, while EPC hammered 3-3A Manila 54-6.
Walnut Ridge at JONESBORO WESTSIDE (6): 3-4A Jonesboro Westside defeated 3-3A Corning 41-34 last week. Walnut Ridge took advantage of six turnovers Week 1 to wallop Corning 43-8.
Augusta at BALD KNOB (7): Bald Knob has scored 20 points in losses to Pocahontas and Newport. The Bulldogs beat Augusta 63-28 a year ago.

J.C. Westside at UNION CHRISTIAN (6): UC averages 375 yards and 26 ppg. Senior QB Braxton Smith has passed for 565 yards and three TDs. Senior Will Smith paces the Eagles with 15 receptions for 191 yards.
MAGAZINE (2) at Hackett: Defending league champion Hackett is really struggling. Hector dominated Hackett most of last Friday night in a 28-14 win. Improving Magazine whipped Quitman 42-16 last week.
Mountainburg at DECATUR (2): After back-to-back eight-win seasons, Mountainburg faltering after a 28-21 loss at Union Christian.
LAMAR (40) at Western Yell County: Class 3A No. 9 Lamar surging, keeps WYC winless. WYC (1-9 in 2012) lost a 16-15 heartbreaker last week at J.C. Westside. Lamar junior QB Braxton Sampley has already completed 36 of 56 passes for 467 yards and eight TDs this season.
HECTOR (22) at Marshall: No. 16 Hector took its first step toward a 4-2A title last week with a dominating 28-14 win over defending league champion Hackett. Hector senior RB Gus Nichols ran 20 times for 247 yards and four TDs. Freshman QB Tanner Gaines completed an efficient nine of 12 passes for 109 yards. Senior OLB Shawn Lusk made six solo tackles.
Hartford at HAILEYVILLE, OKLA. (6): Hartford leaves the state in search of its first win since 2008. The Hustlers have dropped 30 in a row.

5-2A
B. Harmony Grove at MAGNET COVE (1): No. 12 Magnet Cove fortunate to earn a 14-14 tie last week at 5-3A Centerpoint when the host Knights dropped a TD pass on the next-to-last play of the game. 5-3A member B. Harmony Grove kept it close in a 28-16 lost to Class 2A No. 3 Gurdon.
Mount Ida at LAVACA (4): Mount Ida's sophomore-laden Lions soundly defeated 5-3A Jessieville's sophomore-laden Lions 20-8 last week. Lavaca senior RB Anthony Todaro ran 21 times for 163 yards and two TDs in a 44-21 win over Elkins.
Bigelow at DANVILLE (18): Bigelow opens 0-3 before a Week 4 trip to Quitman. Danville senior QB Brett Wilkins threw a 41-yard TD pass to senior Alex Xayadeth and ran 30 yards for a score in last week's 21-6 win at Mineral Springs. Bigelow beat the Little Johns 26-20 last year.
Poyen at DIERKS (13): Dierks should run wild against at Poyen defense that has not looked good. No. 3 Gurdon visits Dierks next week in a big 7-2A clash.
Quitman at CEDAR RIDGE (1): Cedar Ridge topped Clarendon last week 37-20 for its first victory since Week 8, 2011 (40-21 over Augusta).
Rose Bud at CONWAY CHRISTIAN (2): Rose Bud junior QB Andrew Adcock completed four TD passes to senior Tyler Weatherly in last week's 45-6 win over Marshall. The Ramblers beat Conway Christian 33-20 last year. Conway Christian QB Chandler Ferrand passed for 210 yards and two TDs in last week's 26-21 loss to 4-3A Cedarville.

Bismarck at CUTTER M. STAR (12): Bismarck has lost 15 of its past 16 games, including last week's 36-13 loss to Dierks. Cutter Morning Star beat Bismarck 34-13 a year ago.
Mountain Pine at FOUNTAIN LAKE (30): Fountain Lake sophomore RB Sean McNeely rushed for the Cobras' only score this year in last week's 41-6 loss at Pottsville. Sophomore FB/LB Parker Ross (deep thigh bruise) should return this week. Fountain Lake beat Mountain Pine 38-6 last fall.

6-2A
Hazen at E. POINSETT COUNTY (2): Hazen's defense shut down 2-3A Rose Bud 46-13 Week 1 and McCory 22-0 last week, allowing just 180 yards this season. Senior LB Lucas Tennison leads Hazen with 23 tackles. Senior Jacob Walker has recorded 19 tackles, including six for loss. Osceola at CARLISLE (4): Osceola outgained Gosnell 299-279 in last week's 27-14 loss, but it lost four turnovers. Carlisle beat the Seminoles 22-18 last year.
Yellville-Summit at ENGLAND (6): Low numbers this year for Yellville-Summit (24 players on roster). The Panthers have allowed 72 points in a tie with Piggott and loss to Salem. England, led by QB Tyrik Harris, beat Yellville-Summit 12-7 last season.

HARDING ACADEMY (34) at Des Arc: Harding Academy senior QB Kohl Blickenstaff completed 19 of 31 passes for 183 yards, including a 5-yard TD pass to senior Trey Davis, in last week's 35-21 win at Heber Springs. Blickenstaff ran 1 yard for a TD and returned an interception 50 yards for a score. The Wildcats beat Des Arc 49-6 last fall.
Brinkley at EPISCOPAL (20): Episcopal senior QB William Pollock passed for 259 yards and five TDs in last week's 46-26 win over England. Sophomore playmaker Allie Freeman caught 12 of Pollock's 17 completions for 187 yards and four TDs. The Wildcats beat Brinkley 36-12 in 2012.

Palestine-Wheatley at PIGGOTT (13): Piggott has scored 74 points in a tie with Yellville-Summit and loss at Brookland. Senior FB Garrett Cook broke his leg in last week's 45-44 loss at Brookland. The Mohawks beat Palestine-Wheatley 36-6 last season.P-W sophomore RB Devante Jordan is one to watch.
BARTON (34) at Clarendon: Barton senior QB Laquarius Hall rushed for 101 yards and a TD and threw a 35-yard TD pass to senior Justice Cole in last week's 33-0 win at Des Arc. Senior DL and Arkansas State commit Jarrod Chandler recorded 15 tackles.

Foreman at HORATIO (1): Horatio faces its third straight 7-2A opponent. The Lions beat Lafayette County 20-0 Week 1 and lost last week to Murfreesboro 26-14. Horatio beat Foreman 19-16 last year.
FOUKE (26) at Lafayette County: Fouke senior QB Jacob Garrett threw four TD passes to senior Nathan Chamblee in last week's 43-27 win over Foreman. The Panthers beat Lafayette County 47-0 in 2012.
Genoa Central at SPRING HILL (13): Genoa Central has given up 81 points in losses to 7-2A members Foreman and Lafayette County. The Dragons beat Spring Hill 42-8 last season.
Mineral Springs is open.

JUNCTION CITY (8) at Bearden: See Game of the Week. Watch highlights of Bearden's Week 1 win vs. C. Harmony Grove here.
Hampton at STRONG (6): Strong trying to find its identity while Hampton rebounds from a 42-0 loss to No. 2 Bearden.
Woodlawn at RISON (35): Rison owns a 27-1 all-time series lead with Woodlawn's lone victory (3-0) coming in 1980, according the Rison historian Stan Sadler. Woodlawn celebrating its 40th year of football, dating to 1973 when then Rison Woodlawn went 0-5-1 as a member of the 6B conference. Woodlawn defeated the Norphlet JV last week.
SMACKOVER (41) at Hermitage: 6-3A member Smackover mercy-ruled Strong last week, while Hermitage allowed 412 yards and 54 points to Parkers Chapel.
Parkers Chapel at GLEN ROSE (20): Parkers Chapel makes its second trip to Hot Springs County in three weeks. The Trojans lost by 15 points Week 1 at 5-2A Magnet Cove. They travel this week to Class 3A No. 8 Glen Rose, which played for the 3A state title a year ago. Parkers Chapel piled up 412 yards and scored on its first seven possession last feel in a 54-8 win over Hermitage.
