HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 5 Star City at No. 6 Dumas
The winner sits atop the league standings. Star City hasn't won a conference championship since sharing the 8-4A crown with Warren in 2003 and the Bulldogs haven't captured an outright conference title in more than 50 years. Dumas won the AAAA-Southeast in 1998.
Star City started the season with a 1-2 record but has reeled off victories over McGehee, Warren and Hamburg the past three weeks. Senior Demetri Goins, who was slowed by a hand injury in August and September, has rushed 43 times for 216 yards and four touchdowns this year. Goins, also the defensive leader, racked up 16 tackles in last week's 51-31 win over Hamburg. Senior Hosia Rochell (319 yards and five TDs) averages 5.7 yards per carry. Senior quarterback Ty Towers has rushed for 565 yards and eight TDs, while completing 56 percent of his passes for 890 yards and five TDs. "They have numerous weapons and can score all over the field," said Dumas coach Mark Courtney.
Dumas rallied 36-35 last week for its first win over Warren in more than a decade. Bobcat senior QB Darion Griswold accounted for more than 300 yards, including 154 yards rushing. "We've seen him throw the ball 70 yards in the air," said Star City coach Blair Brown. "We're preaching to our defensive backs to keep running on every play, never stop. And when he takes off running and gets his shoulders square, he's hard to tackle." Senior cornerback Kelsey Carr shifted to running back in the second half against Warren and darted 74 yards for the winning TD. Senior Darius Foster ran for 124 yards in his second career start and blocked two linebackers on Carr's game-winning run, Courtney said.

WEEK 7 PREDICTIONS (favored team in ALL CAPS followed by point spread)
1-4A
Berryville at PRAIRIE GROVE (14): Prairie Grove averages 16 points per game and must cut down on penalties and turnovers. Berryville hasn't beaten the Tigers since 2006.
GRAVETTE (7) at Farmington: Gravette senior Cody Montee kicked three field goals in last week's 10-point win at Ozark. The Lions have beaten Farmington three straight years by an average of nine points. Highlights will be featured on Hooten's Arkansas Football TV show at 11 a.m. Saturday on KFSM TV 5 and next week on hootens.com.
OZARK (21) at Pea Ridge: Ozark trailed Gravette 24-20 in the fourth quarter last week before allowing a pair of field goals in the final five minutes. Ozark QB Jonathan McKenzie passed for 289 yards and three TDs against Gravette. Pea Ridge held Gentry to 13 points in the first half last week.
SHILOH CHRISTIAN (32) at Gentry: The Saints continue applying the 35-point sportsmanship rule on 1-4A opponents. Senior QB Kiehl Frazier completes 64 percent of his passes for 1,263 yards and 17 TDs, with just two interceptions. The Auburn commit has rushed for 457 yards and eight scores.
2-4A
Cave City at LONOKE (24): Lonoke trailed winless Southside Batesville in the second quarter last week before winning by 36 points. Jackrabbit QB Logan DeWhitt can choose from numerous receiver options.
NEWPORT (1) at Heber Springs: Heber Springs turned the ball over too much in last week's 22-point setback at Marianna. Newport lost at Stuttgart by six points last week after driving inside the 10-yard line in the final minute before stalling. Heber Springs drove for the winning TD in the final minute to upend Stuttgart by six points two weeks ago.
MARIANNA (10) at Southside Batesville: Southside Batesville beat Marianna by eight points two years ago, its only conference win since 2008. Speedy Marianna must avoid a letdown after hammering Heber Springs a week ago.
STUTTGART (6) at Clinton: Clinton is 6-0 for the second straight season. The Yellow Jackets were in an identical situation last year before losing at Stuttgart by 28 points. But they are healthier this season. Stuttgart senior QB Lucas McGhee generated 200 yards of offense and three TDs in last week's comeback victory over Newport. Highlights will be featured on Hooten's Arkansas Football TV show at 11 a.m. Saturday on Fox 16 and next week on hootens.com.
3-4A
GOSNELL (6) at Highland: These teams have split the past four meetings since moving into the same league four years ago. The Pirates' potent rushing attack features seniors Zach Perrin (463 yards and 11 TDs) and Gabe Sullivan (489 yards and four TDs).
OSCEOLA (7) at Pocahontas: Osceola goes for its second straight win. Pocahontas usually plays the Seminoles closer than most teams, losing by 16 points a year ago and 21 points two years ago.
VALLEY VIEW (14) at Trumann: Undefeated Valley View is off to the best start in school history. The Blazers can't afford a letdown after hammering previously unbeaten Highland by 18 points a week ago.
Jonesboro Westside at WALNUT RIDGE (7): Winless Jonesboro Westside fills its open date with a Class 2A opponent. Jonesboro Westside lost to Salem by 32 points in Week 1 and Walnut Ridge beat Salem by 19 points in Week 5.
4-4A
Clarksville at BOONEVILLE (21): Clarksville upended the Bearcats by four points in 2008. But the Panthers must regroup after last week's 38-point homecoming loss to Subiaco Academy. Booneville receiver Jayson McKnight caught a pair of TD passes and returned a punt 84 yards for a score in last week's 42-14 win over Dover.
Dardanelle at MENA (11): Unbeaten Mena still has some tough games on its schedule, including a possible conference title tilt with Booneville in Week 10. Dardanelle took a major step toward the playoffs with last week's 10-7 win over Pottsville.
DOVER (3) at Pottsville: Pottsville trailed Dardanelle by 10 points in the third quarter last week, but couldn't score late. Dover QB Colton Williams has generated more than 1,000 yards of offense this fall.
Waldron at SUBIACO ACADEMY (21): Subiaco Academy stunned Class 4A with its dominating win at Clarksville. Trojan QB Marquis Walters averaged 18 yards per carry and tallied six scores against Clarksville.
7-4A
MALVERN (14) at Pulaski Oak Grove (Thurs): Malvern became the first team to score on Ashdown last week. Leopard receiver/defensive back James King (two TD catches and two interceptions against Ashdown) makes plays on both sides of the ball. Highlights will be featured on Hooten's Arkansas Football TV show at 11 a.m. Saturday on Fox 16 and next week on hootens.com.
NASHVILLE (7) at Ashdown: Nashville has beaten Ashdown six straight times, including 47-28 in 2005 (Ashdown's only regular-season setback). Senior QB Cole Moore and running back Devencio Hawthorne give the Scrappers passing and running threats.
PULASKI ACADEMY (32) at Bauxite: Pulaski Academy junior QB Fredi Knighten has passed for 1,869 yards and 20 TDs this fall. Bauxite has scored 14 TDs this year. Highlights will be featured on Hooten's Arkansas Football TV show at 11 a.m. Saturday on Fox 16 and next week on hootens.com.
PULASKI ROBINSON (13) at DeQueen: Pulaski Robinson rolled up 540 total yards in last week's 32-point win over Bauxite. DeQueen fullback Yordi Moran ran for two TDs and kicked a field goal at Pulaski Academy last week.
8-4A
HAMBURG (1) at Lake Village: Hamburg drove its first possession in for a TD in last week's 20-point loss at Star City. The Lions give up 35 points per game.
McGehee at DOLLARWAY (3): Dollarway trailed DeWitt 25-23 at halftime last week before winning by 18 points. The Cardinals passed for more than 200 yards against DeWitt. McGehee's Kendall Lambert ran for 173 yards and four TDs in last week's 32-point win over Lake Village.
STAR CITY (2) at Dumas: Hootens.com Game of the Week.
WARREN (21) at DeWitt: Warren starts the softer part of its schedule. The Lumberjacks give up 31 points per game.
