CHAMPIONSHIP PREDICTION (favored team highlighted in ALL CAPS)

RECTOR (9-0) vs. Spring Hill (9-3), 6:30 p.m. Thursday, War Memorial Stadium

Spring Hill logged their 9th win with a 42-6 win over Augusta. Senior TJ Tipton ran for 135 yards and 4 TDs. JR QB Jaxson Smith threw for a TD and ran for 100 yards and a TD. The Bears come to War Memorial with 2 full weeks of practice. Coach Greg Smith said he feels like practice went smooth. “We didn’t find out about Strong [forfeiting] until noon game day, and that helped motivate us through the week with Augusta.” Rector beat defending champion Izard County 62-40 two weeks ago. The Cougars dominated the line of scrimmage, using Drew Henderson and his 7 rushing TDs to pull away from the high-octane ICC passing attack. This game will come down to who can best stop the other’s running game. Both Henderson and Tipton can take over a game. Ashton Scott should take the focus off of Henderson in the Cougars offense. Likewise, Spring Hill's Levin MaGuire and Jaxon Smith could have their breakout game as Rector focuses on Tipton.
