No. 2 El Dorado vs. No. 1 Lake Hamilton
These familiar foes meet for just the third time in the postseason. El Dorado beat Lake Hamilton 21-20 in the 2010 semifinals en route to its second straight state title (seventh in school history). Lake Hamilton defeated the Wildcats 42-28 in the 2008 state title game to capture its second state championship (other in 1992).
El Dorado has won 37 of its past 41 games against Class 6A opponents. The Wildcats have won five in a row since losing to Lake Hamilton 31-24 in Week 8, including seven- and 10-point victories on the road at No. 3 Pine Bluff and No. 5 Jonesboro, respectively. Junior quarterback Lucas Reed has passed for 2,119 yards and 20 touchdowns this year. Junior running back Marque Burris has rushed for 2,048 yards and 27 TDs.
Lake Hamilton advanced to its third state title game appearance since 2007 by eliminating Pine Bluff 23-21 last week. Senior RB Austin Essner ran 17 times for 114 yards, including a 54-yard TD in the third quarter. Senior QB and Farm Bureau Awards Class 7A/6A Offensive Player of the Year finalist Levi Runyan has passed for more than 2,400 yards this fall.
