Williams, Frampton Shine as Senators Outlast Jonesboro

Robinson 34, Jonesboro 33

LITTLE ROCK — Joe T. Robinson leaned on explosive special teams and a late defensive stand to edge Jonesboro 34-33 on Friday at Charlie George Stadium before a lively crowd. Robinson’s win featured two return touchdowns and constant lead changes in a high-tempo game.

Jonesboro struck first behind senior running back TJ Brown, who powered in for a short score, and later added another rushing touchdown. Quarterback Asa Myers threw a touchdown and ran for another to keep the Hurricane within a point late.

Robinson answered repeatedly. Quarterback Reece Simpson delivered two touchdown passes—including a highlight deep ball to corner/receiver Hakim Frampton—and Kevin “Deuce” Williams produced a rushing TD plus a back‑breaking kickoff‑return score. Williams contributed on defense as Robinson’s unit, keyed by middle linebacker Isiah “Tank” Reese, closed the door in the final minutes.

Both defenses flashed: Jonesboro’s secondary produced a pick‑six out of halftime to trim the Senators’ lead, and the Hurricane front, anchored by Jahvon Hare, limited interior runs the night. Jonesboro’s back end—led by cornerbacks Jaques Jordan and Javion Alexander—was active throughout. But Robinson’s special teams flipped momentum twice, and the Senators batted down a fourth‑down pass with 2:00 left to preserve the one‑point margin.

Simpson (QB), Williams (FS/RB), and Frampton (CB/WR) led Robinson’s playmakers, while Brown (RB) and Myers (QB) paced Jonesboro. The game turned on special teams—one Hurricane point‑after try failed after a penalty, and William Tait stayed perfect on Robinson’s extra points—before the Senators bled the clock with power runs to end it.
