SMACKOVER — Smackover spotted Centerpoint an 8–7 lead, then ripped off 21 unanswered points before halftime and closed with a late strike to seal a 7-3A win, 41–24, Friday night at Buckaroo Stadium.

Sophomore quarterback Trason Parlor threw three touchdowns and ran for nearly 100 yards behind a steady front anchored by two-way nose guard/center Aiden Bennett. Parlor hit senior receiver Jamari Robinson twice (27 and 34 yards) and found senior Jaden Bryant for a 10-yard score with :27 left. Robinson also added a 4-yard jet sweep, while senior tailback Joseph Brown opened the night with a 27-yard burst. Kicker Judson Wolf finished 5-for-6 on PATs.

Smackover’s defense, led by Bennett up front and linebackers Ike Eisler and Robert Cardin, clogged the interior and pressured throughout. Jeremiah King and Ryder Beasley supplied sure tackling on the perimeter, and the Buckaroos partially blocked a punt to flip field position.

Centerpoint quarterback Tony Valdez answered out of halftime with a 24-yard keeper and led two successful two-point tries. Tight end/linebacker Zack Miot and receiver John Wootten moved the chains, senior athlete Dustin Cox broke up a pass, and linebacker/running back Hayden Dodson was active in the box and on special teams.
