Farmington Turns Third-Quarter Takeaways Into Road Win at Mountain Home

MOUNTAIN HOME — Farmington turned two third-quarter Mountain Home fumbles into touchdowns and finished without allowing an offensive touchdown in a 12-7 road victory Friday.
The teams played a scoreless first quarter. Farmington moved into Mountain Home territory several times, but the Bombers’ defensive front produced pressure and sacks. Farmington’s defense answered by forcing repeated punts and keeping Mountain Home from sustaining drives.
Mountain Home generated the first points on defense. With 9:58 left in the second quarter, senior defensive back Gus Wilber intercepted Slade Norwood near midfield and returned it 52 yards for a touchdown. Isaac Ballard’s extra point made it 7-0. The Bombers later added another interception near their own 10-yard line, preserving the seven-point halftime lead.
Farmington’s field position and defense changed the game after halftime. Brayden Conran pinned Mountain Home at its 3-yard line with a 37-yard punt. Later, the Bombers fumbled at their own 13. On Farmington’s next snap, Norwood found JJ Moore on a 13-yard post for a touchdown. Eli Reiss blocked the extra point, leaving Mountain Home ahead 7-6.
Mountain Home fumbled again on its next possession, and Jake Stoltz recovered at the Bomber 23. Two plays later, Norwood stepped up against a delayed blitz and found Cooper Stoltz open in the end zone for a 23-yard touchdown with 4:08 left in the third quarter. The two-point attempt failed, leaving Farmington ahead 12-7.
Mountain Home recovered a Farmington fumble inside its 10 early in the fourth quarter and later stopped another scoring opportunity when a field-goal attempt missed. The Bombers then drove to the Farmington 35 with 3:21 remaining. A fourth-down completion was erased by a holding penalty, and Farmington intercepted the fourth-and-long retry. The Cardinals converted a third-and-10 with 2:08 left and ran out the clock.

JJ Moore, Farmington, junior WR/DB — Caught the 13-yard touchdown pass that cut Mountain Home’s lead to 7-6. Moore also caught a quick pass on third-and-3 for a first down during Farmington’s first-quarter offense.
Cooper Stoltz, Farmington, junior WR — Caught the 23-yard go-ahead touchdown with 4:08 left in the third quarter. Norwood escaped a delayed blitz, stepped forward and found Stoltz open in the end zone for the score that made it 12-7.
