EL DORADO — El Dorado intercepted two passes, recovered a fumble and allowed no offensive touchdowns in a 22-6 victory over Camden Fairview on Friday at Memorial Stadium.
Running back Trayden Cook-King finished with over 200 rushing yards, and quarterback Ryan Polk threw a fourth-quarter touchdown pass to Christian Williams as the Wildcats improved to 2-0.
Neither team scored in the first quarter. Camden Fairview blocked a field-goal attempt with 3:19 remaining, keeping the game scoreless.
El Dorado’s second interception was returned to the end zone in the second quarter, but a penalty erased the touchdown. The Wildcats retained possession.
A fumble recovery at Camden Fairview’s 36 set up the opening score. Jakayden Hamilton finished the possession with a 2-yard touchdown run at 3:17, and the extra point made it 7-0.
Dayton Browning’s reception and a horse-collar penalty helped move Camden Fairview to El Dorado’s 23. The Wildcats forced four consecutive incompletions to preserve their halftime lead.
Safety Jaquaviun Hampton broke up two passes on Camden Fairview’s first third-quarter possession. El Dorado scored on a 70-yard run, and Gavin Jacobs threw a two-point conversion for a 15-0 lead with 7:48 remaining.
Camden Fairview recovered a fumbled snap later in the quarter, but El Dorado stopped the ensuing possession on fourth down.
Donta Thrower’s tackle for loss forced El Dorado into third-and-goal from the 12 in the fourth quarter. Polk then found Williams over two defenders for a touchdown at 8:34. The extra point made it 22-0.
Camden Fairview returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown at 8:21. El Dorado stopped the two-point run, then stopped the Cardinals on fourth down with 4:40 remaining.
Cook-King gained a first down on the next possession, and El Dorado’s final punt rolled to Camden Fairview’s 5 with 29 seconds left. Neither team scored again.
