Christy’s two touchdown passes lead Highland past Greene County Tech

Austin Christy threw two touchdown passes, and Highland held Greene County Tech scoreless after halftime in a 23–3 victory Friday at Eagle Stadium.
The Rebels scored 16 unanswered points in the second half. Tech finished its home opener with a 2–1 record.
Davontae Williams returned the opening kickoff into Highland territory, but the Rebels stopped Tech on fourth down. Christy finished Highland’s ensuing possession with a touchdown pass to the corner of the end zone. The extra point made it 7–0.
Brett Boone’s run to the Highland 2 gave Tech a chance to answer in the first quarter. Highland stopped four consecutive rushing attempts, including a fourth-down handoff from Boone to Lane Compton, to preserve the lead.
Compton intercepted Christy in the second quarter and returned the ball near midfield. Tech later drove into scoring position behind Ashton Addison and Williams. Addison converted a fourth down, and Williams added a 10-yard run for another first down. Nicholas Otero’s field goal cut the deficit to 7–3.
Alex Walker intercepted a fourth-down pass before halftime, keeping Highland’s lead at four points.
Lexxon Johnson converted a third down with a run inside the Tech 20 during Highland’s third-quarter touchdown drive. A short rushing touchdown and extra point extended the lead to 14–3 with 1:57 remaining.
Highland recovered a high punt snap on Tech’s next possession. Following a penalty, the Rebels took over at the Tech 15. That possession produced a fourth-quarter field goal for a 17–3 lead.
Christy later threw a 41-yard touchdown pass over the middle. The extra point missed, leaving Highland ahead 23–3.
Walker returned the ensuing kickoff across midfield. Tech also blocked a late punt and recovered at Highland’s 30, but the Rebels intercepted a pass in the end zone on Tech’s final possession. Highland then ran out the clock.
