Coatney, Canada Lead Greenwood’s Seven-Touchdown Win

Greenwood scored touchdowns on its first three possessions, added a 75-yard interception return before halftime and defeated Morrilton 49–7 Friday at Devil Dog Stadium. The Bulldogs built a 21–0 first-quarter lead and doubled that advantage before the break, combining an efficient passing attack with a defense that repeatedly earned possession back.
Cruz Coatney completed 19 of 24 passes for 296 yards and three touchdowns without an interception. Braxton Canada caught seven passes for 148 yards and two scores, while Rhett Holloway rushed eight times for 102 yards. Greenwood finished with 493 yards of offense, including 176 rushing and 317 passing.
The opening touchdown required a fourth-down conversion. Holloway gained 5 yards on fourth-and-one at Morrilton’s 39 to extend a nine-play, 64-yard drive. Ty Holt caught four passes for 39 yards during the possession, and Mario Dunbar finished it with a 4-yard touchdown run. Landon Franklin’s extra point made it 7–0 with 7:21 remaining in the first quarter.
Coatney found Brayden Brewer for a 23-yard touchdown on Greenwood’s next possession, completing a six-play, 53-yard march. Holloway supplied another third-down conversion during that drive, and Holt added an 8-yard run.
The Bulldogs needed only four plays to cover 74 yards for their third touchdown. Holloway broke a 29-yard run, Canada caught a 38-yard pass, and Dunbar scored from 2 yards out. Franklin’s kick pushed the lead to 21–0 with 1:33 left in the quarter.
Brewer added a rushing touchdown in the second quarter, scoring from the 1 with 7:58 remaining. Holloway’s 18-yard gain on third-and-eight and Dunbar’s 9-yard run helped set up the score, which extended Greenwood’s advantage to 28–0.
Morrilton created two second-quarter takeaways, including a fumble recovery by Kai Urie and a recovered punt-return fumble at Greenwood’s 19. The Bulldogs’ defense kept both resulting possessions scoreless.
Coatney then directed a 74-yard touchdown drive, connecting with Brayden Renick for 17 yards and Canada for consecutive gains of 22 and 39 yards. Canada’s touchdown made it 35–0 with three minutes left. Bailey Thibodeau followed with a 75-yard interception return for a touchdown at the 1:10 mark, sending Greenwood into halftime ahead 42–0.
Canada caught a 21-yard touchdown pass from Coatney to finish the opening possession of the third quarter. Cooper Webb contributed receptions of 10 and 17 yards during that eight-play, 76-yard drive. Renick finished with four catches for 56 yards; Webb had three receptions for 29. Franklin finished seven-for-seven on extra points.
Morrilton answered with a seven-play, 77-yard touchdown drive spanning the third and fourth quarters. Caleb Hays scored on a 25-yard run with 11:45 remaining, and Giovanni Santos added the extra point. Hays also returned four kickoffs for 122 yards, including a 66-yard return.
Bryer Hackler led Greenwood with eight tackles, including three for loss and a sack. For Morrilton, Brayden Gray and Santos each recorded eight tackles, and Zacchaeus Delph added seven. Davion Johnson rushed for 56 yards on 14 carries, while Champ McNabb caught five passes for 47 yards and Jaxon McCray added four receptions for 33 yards.
