VILONIA — Reece Simpson threw four first-half touchdown passes, including two to Braylyn Brown, as Robinson built a 47-point halftime lead and defeated Vilonia 47-13 Friday at Philip D. Weaver Stadium.

The Senators improved to 6-0 overall and 3-0 in the 5A Central. Vilonia fell to 2-4 and 1-2. Simpson was credited with completing 8 of 10 passes on the Robinson Sports Network broadcast, directing an offense that scored through the air and on the ground before halftime.

Simpson connected with Brown on deep touchdown passes on Robinson’s first two possessions. The Senators then put together a more methodical scoring drive, mixing Dallas Bledsoe’s rushing with a first-down catch by Kyrin Grimes that moved the ball to the Vilonia 15. Simpson finished the possession with a touchdown pass to Desmond Martin, giving Robinson a 21-0 lead with a little more than two minutes left in the opening quarter.

Aaron Freeman’s punt return later gave Robinson possession at the Vilonia 41, and Larry Scruggs added a first-down reception before the quarter ended. Bledsoe broke through the middle for a 27-yard touchdown run on the first play of the second quarter. William Tait’s extra point made it 28-0.

Rae Parsons supplied the next score after an earlier interception return for a touchdown was erased by a roughing-the-passer penalty. Robinson’s pressure forced the ball out of Vilonia quarterback Cooper Hanson’s hand, and Parsons recovered the fumble and returned it for a touchdown. Vilonia blocked the extra point, leaving Robinson ahead 34-0 with 10:55 remaining in the half.

Simpson’s fourth touchdown pass went to Freeman later in the second quarter. Vilonia again stopped the extra-point attempt, but Robinson’s lead had grown to 40-0. Brown, Martin and Freeman accounted for all four of Simpson’s touchdown throws.

Robinson’s defense continued to make passing difficult. Matthew Moka pressured Hanson into an errant throw, and Jaiden Todd later recorded a sack that helped force a punt. Cooper Mosely took over at quarterback for the Senators and kept another scoring drive moving, including a completion to Freeman that reached the 1-yard line.

Trey Petty finished that possession by taking a direct snap and running untouched for a 1-yard touchdown late in the second quarter. The successful extra point extended the margin to 47-0, which Robinson carried into halftime.

Vilonia scored twice after the break with a running clock and Robinson using numerous reserves. Robert Meyers broke through the middle for a third-quarter rushing touchdown, and Luke Robinson added the extra point to make it 47-7.

In the fourth quarter, Hanson converted a fourth down on the ground and connected with Jackson Ringgold for a downfield completion during another scoring drive. Hanson finished it with a touchdown pass to Kyler Francis. Luke Robinson’s extra-point attempt hit the crossbar, leaving the final margin at 47-13.

Robinson hosts Little Rock Parkview next Friday, while Vilonia remains home to face Jacksonville.
