CAMDEN: Pine Bluff scored on the opening kickoff, added two defensive touchdowns and defeated Camden Fairview 48-21 Friday night at Cardinal Stadium. The Zebras built a 21-0 first-quarter lead and answered both of the Cardinals’ third-quarter touchdowns.

Reed returned the opening kick for a touchdown with 11:49 remaining. Camden Fairview responded with a lengthy possession, converting fourth downs on Brodie Dow passes to Aaden Evans and Calvin Morris. The Cardinals reached the goal-to-go series, but consecutive losses pushed them backward. A high snap disrupted the field-goal attempt, and Pine Bluff took over.

The Zebras immediately broke a long quarterback run into Camden Fairview territory. After a third-down sack moved them away from the goal line, Deontae Griffin found Reed for a fourth-down touchdown. The extra point missed, leaving Pine Bluff ahead 13-0.

Janaveyon Willis returned an interception for Pine Bluff’s next touchdown. A successful two-point run extended the margin to 21-0 before the first quarter ended.

Dakylan Hunter intercepted a pass early in the second quarter, but the Cardinals could not turn that possession into points. Their next scoring opportunity came after a Pine Bluff punt. Demarion Robinson converted third-and-short, and Dayton Browning’s reception carried the drive inside the 10.

Robinson finished the possession with a fourth-down touchdown run. Gannon Edwards’ extra point cut the deficit to 21-7 with 4:28 remaining. Pine Bluff answered despite a holding penalty that created a long-yardage situation. Jamar Morrow connected with Kyeran Culclager for a touchdown with 1:11 left, sending the Zebras into halftime ahead 28-7.

Browning’s kickoff return gave Camden Fairview a promising start to the second half. Robinson added a rushing gain, Browning caught a third-down pass for a first down, and Dow found Evans for a touchdown. The extra point missed, leaving the Cardinals behind 28-13.

Pine Bluff again responded through the air. A contested downfield catch helped move the Zebras inside the 10 before Morrow threw another touchdown pass to Culclager. The extra point made it 35-13 with 7:14 remaining in the third quarter.

Camden Fairview’s defense then produced three consecutive sacks to force a punt. Dow kept the ensuing drive moving with a third-down completion to Morris. Robinson later converted another third down, and Morris caught a 9-yard touchdown pass with 1:01 remaining. Robinson’s two-point run pulled the Cardinals within 35-21.

A long kickoff return immediately put Pine Bluff back in Camden Fairview territory. Malachi Jackson stopped a run for a loss, but Morrow’s next pass went to Culclager for a touchdown as the third quarter expired. The two-point pass failed, leaving the Zebras ahead 41-21.

Pine Bluff intercepted another pass in the fourth quarter, then ended a later Camden Fairview possession with Reed’s fumble return for a touchdown. The extra point completed the scoring. The Zebras continued pressuring Dow and held the Cardinals scoreless through the final quarter.
