Prescott 35, Smackover 30

October 30, 2026

PRESCOTT — Desmond Prater accounted for three touchdowns and Owen Glass intercepted a pass in the final minute as Prescott (8-1, 6-0) held off Smackover (7-2, 4-2) for a 35-30 victory Friday night.

The Curly Wolves turned two fourth-quarter fumble recoveries into touchdowns, then needed Glass’ interception to end the Buckaroos’ final threat. Smackover recovered an onside kick after cutting the deficit to five points and appeared to score the go-ahead touchdown, but a holding penalty erased the play. Glass intercepted the next pass, giving Prescott possession with 51 seconds remaining.

Prater scored on a 78-yard run in the third quarter and added a touchdown run with 6:10 left in the fourth. He also threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Glass and a two-point conversion to Treyvion Evans, tying the game at 22 with 8:18 remaining. Tiden McKillion supplied touchdown runs of 4 and 11 yards.

Neither team scored in the first quarter. Smackover broke through with 2:36 left in the second when McElroy ran 34 yards for a touchdown. Evans blocked the extra point, leaving the Buckaroos ahead 6-0.

Kayden Gleason’s kickoff return into Smackover territory gave Prescott a short field. McKillion finished the drive with his 4-yard touchdown run, and Rhett Cornish’s kick put the Curly Wolves ahead 7-6 with 1:41 remaining. Smackover answered with a 68-yard touchdown pass from Trason Parlor to Goodwin and a successful two-point run, taking a 14-7 halftime lead.

Prater’s long scoring run and Cornish’s kick tied the game at 14 with 7:34 left in the third. Smackover answered with an 8-yard touchdown sweep by Goodwin and another two-point run, restoring an eight-point advantage with 6:46 remaining.

After Prater’s touchdown pass to Glass and conversion pass to Evans tied the score in the fourth, Alex Munoz recovered a fumble at the Smackover 19. Prater scored two plays later, and Cornish made it 29-22. Glass recovered another fumble on the Buckaroos’ next possession. A 29-yard completion to Wes Cornelius and a roughing-the-passer penalty helped set up McKillion’s 11-yard touchdown run. The extra point struck an upright, leaving Prescott ahead 35-22 with 4:50 left.

Derrick Goodwin’s touchdown pass to Goodwin and a successful two-point conversion pulled Smackover within 35-30 with 2:05 remaining. The Buckaroos recovered the onside kick at Prescott’s 45, but the holding penalty and Glass’ interception ended their comeback bid.
