CLASS 6A GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 10 LR CATHOLIC (0-2) at Class 7A North Little Rock (0-2)
Little Rock Catholic has won the past 3 meetings with its former 7A Central rival, including 27-17 in 2024.
“They are big, fast, and athletic,” LR Catholic Coach Richard Cochran says of North Little Rock. “We have to stay disciplined on our assignments.”
The Rockets competed well 2 weeks ago against St. Pius X (Mo.) at The Star in Frisco, Texas, taking a 9-6 lead in the third quarter before falling 21-9. Catholic QB Phillips Blair connected with Hayden Roaf for a TD, while Linkoln Perez kicked a field goal. The Rockets rushed for 194 yards against St. Pius X; Blair and Markham combined to pass for 144 yards.

6A EAST
Class 5A LR PARKVIEW (1-1) at Benton (1-1): Benton beat Parkview 30-23 in the last meeting of the schools on Oct. 8, 2021, when the teams were conference rivals.
Benton led Class 7A North Little Rock 24-7 at halftime last week when the game was halted due to a shooting inside Charging Wildcat Stadium. The Arkansas Activities Association has awarded the victory to Benton, since a half was completed, and the game will not be resumed. Senior 2-time all-state QB Drew Davis tossed 3 TD passes in the first half, and kicker Gabe Wilbur boomed a 37-yard field goal to cap the Panthers’ scoring.
Benton likely plays this week without at least 4 offensive starters, many of whom could be back in time for next week’s conference opener at Jonesboro.
LR CATHOLIC at North LR: See Hootens.com Game of the Week.
Class 7A LR CHRISTIAN (1-1) at W. Memphis (0-2): Class 7A Little Rock Christian topped West Memphis 48-7 last fall. Class 5A Valley View led West Memphis 14-0 after a quarter and 28-0 at halftime of last week’s 35-6 victory. Micah Ingle scored the Blue Devils’ lone TD in the third period. West Memphis still has a young roster in 2025, and that will limit the Blue Devils this week against a perennial LR Christian.
OPEN Marion, Sheridan, El Dorado, Jonesboro and Sylvan Hills.
6A WEST
SHILOH CHRISTIAN (1-1) at Bethany, Okla. (1-1): These teams did not meet in 2024.
Shiloh Christian lost to Lincoln Christian (Okla.) 41-33 last week, Lincoln Christian’s 31st consecutive victory. Shiloh led 17-14 at halftime after a Max Eldridge TD run, a Cole Creighton TD pass to Chandler Kemp, and a field goal from Aiden Pullin on the final play of the first half. Creighton passed for 407 yards and 2 TDs; Eldridge ran for 98 yards and 2 scores. Kemp hauled in 9 passes for 132 yards and 2 scores, and Zane Sluyter caught 9 passes for 124 yards. Shiloh gave one of Oklahoma’s top programs all it wanted a week ago, and the Saints finish the job this week on the road.
MOUNTAIN HOME (2-0) at Rolla, Mo. (2-1) (Thursday): Mountain Home ripped Rolla 50-25 last fall.
Mountain Home was off last week after posting a 28-14 victory over rival Harrison, the Bombers’ third consecutive victory in the series. QB Brantlee Phillips completed 19 of 27 passes against the Goblins for 191 yards and 3 TDs; Barrett Miller ran 15 times for 81 yards.
“They have a strong ground game and very good skill players,” Mountain Home Coach Steve Ary says. “We really have to eliminate their explosive plays on offense and special teams. We need to win the turnover battle.”
FS SOUTHSIDE (2-0) at Class 7A LR Southwest (0-2): Fort Smith Southside topped LR Southwest 41-28 last fall.
Mavericks QB Blake Forsgren (14-18 passing, 227 yards, 2 TDs; 1 rushing TD) led Southside in a 35-7 win over Class 7A LR Central. Malachi Warren added a 1-yard TD plunge. Fort Smith Southside has averaged more than 300 yards rushing per week this season (6.9 yards per carry), and the Mavericks should be able to produce similar numbers this week against a Southwest team that has been outscored 118-0 in its 2 games.
OPEN Greenwood, Lake Hamilton, Van Buren, Russellville, and Siloam Springs.↑
