No. 13 CLINTON (4-0, 1-0) at No. 16 Pottsville (3-1, 1-0)

Pottsville has won 8 of the 12 meetings with Clinton, but Clinton notched a 24-20 victory a year ago. Clinton clobbered Lamar 46-12 a week ago behind senior QB Brodie Dufrene (102 yards passing, 2 TDs; 5-59 rushing); Sam Standridge (2-71 receiving, 2 TDs); and Rylan Jones (61 rushing, 2 TDs). The Yellow Jackets tallied 490 total yards. Pottsville beat previously unbeaten Mena 25-6 a week ago. Kaegan Jones ran for 143 yards and 3 TDs, while Kaleb Stancil ran for 90 yards. Conner Mitchell led the Apaches defense with 10 tackles and Stancil had 9 stops. “Clinton is huge,” Pottsville Coach Bryan Rust says. “Their run game is really good, and this year the passing game is scary.”

No. 3 ELKINS (2-1, 1-0) at Berryville (3-1, 0-1): Berryville lost to Huntsville 31-15 last week, its first setback of the season. Slot receiver Andre Esparza caught 6 passes for 62 yards, and DB Russell Conard registered 7 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Elkins gouged Gentry 49-6 last week. Senior QB Ben Napier (117 passing yards, 5 TDs) and Connor Hamm (78 rushing yards, 2 TDs; 2 TD receptions) led on offense. Brooks Williams led the Elks defense with 6 tackles, including 3 TFL and 1 sack.

Green Forest (2-2, 0-1) at No. 14 GRAVETTE (3-1, 1-0): Gravette jumped on Lincoln 38-0 in the first half last week, cruising to a 52-0 victory. Gravette was up 10-0 in the first half, when it forced a turnover at the Lincoln 1 to spark the win. J.D. Been ran for 3 TDs in the second quarter, and Gabe Bottorff caught a 95-yard TD pass. Green Forest’s Jace Meador made 10 tackles in last week’s 50-7 loss to Prairie Grove.

 Huntsville (2-2, 1-0) at PRAIRIE GROVE (1-3, 1-0): Prairie Grove has won 14 consecutive games against Huntsville, with the Eagles’ last win in the series coming in 2000. The Tigers beat Green Forest 50-7 last week for win No. 1. Prairie Grove ran for 447 yards, led by senior Elijah Sugg (189 yards, 3 TDs). Huntsville has won consecutive games, and the defense held Berryville under 300 total yards last week.

Lincoln (2-2, 0-1) at GENTRY (3-1, 0-1): Lincoln has won 9 of the past 16 in the series, but Gentry notched a 35-28 decision last fall. The Wolves lost to Gravette 52-0 last week. Senior tight end Kayden Job caught 4 passes for 66 yards. Gentry’s Phillip Thompson had 12 tackles, and Ethan Meyers made 10 stops in last week’s 49-6 loss to Elkins. NG/LB Aidan Eller played well for the Pioneers.

Heber Springs (1-3, 1-0) at No. 2 MILLS (4-0, 1-0): Mills has outscored its 4 opponents 113-36 this year. The Comets blasted Bald Knob 35-0 last week. Sophomore backup QB Kingston Burnett passed for 233 yards and 3 TDs and ran for a TD vs. Bald Knob; Allen Hall returned a punt 63 yards for a TD. Heber Springs beat CAC 21-17 last week for its first win. Eli Buffalo (127 rushing), Lachlan Tubbs (212 passing, TD), Emmett Dwyer (7-164 receiving, TD) sparked the offense. Elijah Jones made 10 tackles, Buffalo had 5 tackles and 1 forced fumble, and Dwyer made 9 stops and 1 interception.

 LONOKE (2-2, 1-0) at Bald Knob (1-3, 0-1): Bald Knob, averaging 10 points per game, has lost 3 consecutive games by at least 24 points. Lonoke beat Forrest City 40-35 for its second win in a row. Ryder Ingle ran for 3 TDs, averaged 47.5 yards per punt and led the defense with 12 tackles and 1 safety. Jonathan Hixson had 7 tackles and blocked a punt, while Graham Stuart made 11 tackles and recovered 1 fumble.

 CAC (0-4, 0-1) at Riverview (1-3, 1-0): CAC has won 6 of its past nine meetings with Riverview, including 42-14 last fall. CAC, which played a difficult nonconference schedule, lost at Heber Springs 21-17 a week ago. QB Jackson Plumlee passed for 297 yards and 1 TD and ran for 106 yards and a TD. Hoover Brogdon (7-148 receiving) and Brody Vantilborg (7-96 receiving, 1 TD) were the top pass-catchers.. Jackson Allen and Vantilborg each recorded 7 tackles. Riverview snapped a 4-game losing skid last week, beating Hall Steam 13-0.

FORREST CITY (1-3, 0-1) at Hall Steam (0-4, 0-1): Forrest City lost to Lonoke 40-36 last week, its third consecutive game decided by 4 points or less. Senior Kevin Young (22-228 rushing, 3 TDs; 77 passing, TD) led on offense; WR/DB Vonterrious Williams caught 1 pass for 30 yards and intercepted 2 passes (returned 1 for a TD).

3-4A

No. 13 GOSNELL (5-0, 1-0) at Pocahontas (2-2, 0-1): Gosnell has won 10 of the past 19 in the series, with Pocahontas winning 26-12 last fall. Gosnell beat Highland 26-20 a week ago. QB Jamar Allen and senior WR Jai Jacobs have led Gosnell’s offense. Pocahontas lost to Southside by 12 points last week. Linebacker Austin George returned a fumble 50 yards for a TD and intercepted a pass. “Gosnell is very fast and can put up a bunch of points in a hurry,” Pocahontas Coach Casey Chester says.

Trumann (2-2, 1-0) at No. 15 HIGHLAND (2-2, 0-1): Highland put up 310 yards (202 passing, 108 rushing) in last week’s 26-20 loss at Gosnell. Junior QB Austin Christy passed for 202 yards and 1 TD and ran 14 times for 72 yards. Tayson Brink made 11 tackles for the Rebels, while juniors Lexxon Johnson and Mason Sinclair each had 11 stops. Trumann beat Jonesboro Westside 44-20 a week ago behind Arzell Rulford (11-256 rushing, 4 TDs) and Bradon Whitsett (25-206 rushing, TD). Isaiah Carrillo and DL Johnny Bell each recorded 7 tackles.

No. 20 BLYTHEVILLE (2-1; 0-0) at Jonesboro Westside (1-3, 0-1): Blytheville has won 4 of its 5 meetings over Jonesboro Westside, including 40-7 a year ago. Jonesboro Westside sophomore Camryn Chambers ran 15 times for 88 yards and 1 TD. Blytheville didn’t play last week (it was supposed to play Cave City). Senior Courtney Rogers has 54 carries, 533 yards and 5 TDs in 3 games Junior DE Trevon Lewis has 20 tackles and 1 sack and junior free safety Treyvon Orr has 21 tackles, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble.

 No. 1 DARDANELLE (4-0, 1-0) at Waldron (0-4, 0-1): Top-ranked Dardanelle dumped Dover 76-0 last week, scoring 11 TDs and racking up 541 yards on 25 offensive snaps. Senior QB Creed Vega passed for 186 yards and 3 TDs; Ian Branson ran for 2 TDs. Bo Miller and Jayvon Chaten each caught 2 TDs, and RT Gabe Burris caught a 7-yard TD in addition to earning a 95-percent blocking grade up front. Paden Davis had 9 tackles and earned a 9-percent blocking grade; Charlie Poteete had 7 tackles, 1 sack and earned a 95-percent blocking grade. Waldron sophomore Austin Hudson totaled 88 yards (53 receiving, 35 rushing) and recorded 4 tackles in last week’s 57-6 loss at Ozark. Jake Roberson averaged 24.5 yards per catch and made 8 tackles.

Mena (3-1, 0-1) at LAMAR (2-2, 0-1): Mena has won 2 of its 3 meetings against Lamar, including 34-21 last fall. Mena must bounce back after losing to Pottsville 25-6, its first setback of the season. Ryder House led Mena’s defense with 22 tackles, while Jimmy Glenn had 10 tackles and forced 1 fumble. Lamar senior Eli Jones completed a 44-yard TD pass and ran 15 times for 107 yards in last week’s 46-12 loss at Clinton. The Warriors ran for 248 yards. Senior Brandin Grice led the defense with 13 tackles, and Jones made 12 stops.

No. 11 OZARK (3-1, 1-0) at Dover (0-4, 0-1): Ozark jumped on Waldron 38-6 in the second quarter last week and eased to a 57-6 decision. Sophomore RB John Skolarski (9-142 rushing, 3 TDs) and junior RB East Fox (9-135 rushing, 2 TDs) paced a running attack that gained 359 yards and 7 TDs. Dover has been outscored 191-32 in its 4 games this year.

No. 6 ARKADELPHIA (3-1, 0-1) at No. 10 Bauxite (3-1, 1-0): Arkadelphia is 11-0 all-time against Bauxite. The Badgers must bounce back from last week’s 24-23 loss to Nashville. The Badgers’ potential game-winning 2-point conversion was ruled just short of the goal line. Junior QB Bryston McCoy passed for 301 yards and 2 TDs with 2 interceptions. Arkadelphia senior LB Quentavion Morris blocked an extra point and returned a fumble for a TD. Bauxite gained 511 yards but had 300 yards in penalties in last week’s 46-39 win at Fountain Lake. Freshman Taylon Henderson ran 12 times for 196 yards and 4 TDs.

 No. 17 H.G. HASKELL (3-1, 1-0) at Malvern (2-2, 1-0): This game should be close. Undefeated Haskell posted more than 500 total yards in its 62-19 win over Ashdown. Jay Noble ran for 191 yards and 4 TDs, and threw a TD pass; Cam Taylor (5-139 rushing, TD; 10 tackles) contributed on both sides. Malvern ended a 2-game losing skid with a 35-0 win at Genoa Central. Tavien Clegg (16-189 rushing, TD) and Jabori Jacobs (39 rushing, 13 receiving) sparked the offense. Brandon Jackson (6 tackles, 4 TFL) and Jacobs (3 tackles) led the defense.

Fountain Lake (2-2, 0-1) at No. 5 NASHVILLE (2-2, 1-0): Nashville must quickly come down from the euphoria of knocking off defending state champion Arkadelphia 24-23 last week. The Scrappers have won 14 of the past 16 over Fountain Lake, including 49-0 last season. Scrappers QB Jacoby Hopson (114 passing yards, 22-127 rushing) and Tucker Dixon (107 rushing, 2 TDs). Fountain Lake’s Kase Haire (9-164 receiving, TD; 57 rushing; TD pass completion) led his team in last week’s 46-39 loss to Bauxite. WR Peyton Harwood (10-101 receiving, 2 TDs) and Logan Rhodes led defensively with 12 tackles.

Genoa Central (1-3, 0-1) at ASHDOWN (0-4, 0-1): Ashdown has lost its 4 games by a combined 177-83. The Panthers gave up more than 500 yards in last week’s 62-19 loss at Haskell. Senior Riley Williamson (112 passing yards, 2 TDs; rushing TD) and junior Bryson French (6-79 receiving, TD) were the offensive leaders. Genoa Central enters off a 35-0 setback to Malvern, and the Dragons have been shut out in 4 of their past 8 conference games.

8-4A

No. 4 WARREN (3-1, 1-0) at No. 18 Monticello (1-3, 0-1): The winner gets the 146-pound Saline River Shootout Trophy. Warren is 22-2-1 against Monticello under coach Bo Hembree, including an 11-point win last season. Warren escaped from DeWitt last week 28-26. QB Jackson Denton played well and Warren’s offensive line continues showing improvement, coach Bo Hembree says. Monticello must bounce back from last week’s 50-20 loss at Hamburg. H-back Jax Rawls caught 2 TD passes and registered 4 pancake blocks; Charles Kilgore made 12 tackles. Keilyn Green had 9 stops.

 No. 8 HAMBURG (3-1, 1-0) at Helena (2-2, 0-1): Hamburg has won 8 consecutive over Helena. The Lions put up more than 600 yards and throttled Monticello last week 55-20. RB Nikel Lewis ran for 357 yards and 6 TDs; Keovion Brown had 150 yards receiving and 1 TD and Keyvion Duckery was a defensive force with 3 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 1 fumble recovery. Helena lost at Stuttgart 49-30 a week ago. QB Kenneth Gilcreast, Jr., passed for 206 yards and ran for 66 yards and 2 TDs.

No. 9 STUTTGART (4-0, 1-0) at Crossett (2-2, 1-0): Improved Crossett snapped an 8-game conference losing skid with last week’s 42-14 win at Star City. Junior Braylon Howell (262 rushing, TD) and QB Cash Forrest (146 passing, 2 TDs; 67 rushing, 2 TDs) led Crossett. Stuttgart junior QB Cain Price (201 passing, 3 TDs; 57 rushing, 2 TDs) led Stuttgart to a 49-20 victory over Helena. Tyquan Hall ran for 100 yards and 2 TDs, while Knox Hillman made 6 tackles, including a sack that resulted in a safety, and broke up 1 pass. The Ricebirds can’t afford to look ahead to next week’s game against rival DeWitt. “If you Google ‘trap game, ‘ it should say Stuttgart at Crossett, Oct. 3, 2005,” Stuttgart Coach Josh Price says. “They are way better than last year and have some talent.”

Star City (0-4, 0-1) at No. 19 DEWITT (3-1, 0-1): Star City has won 17 of the past 21 in the series, but the Bulldogs have struggled this season (winless and outscored 181-52). Junior receiver Ky Griffith and senior linebacker Tyler Grant played well in last week’s 30-point loss to Crossett. DeWitt must bounce back after last week’s emotional 28-26 setback at 8-4A kingpin Warren. Senior Korri Graham (33-251 rushing, TD; completed 48-yard TD pass) and Travis London (2 TD receptions) led on offense. “We were so close,” DeWitt Coach Jason Hathcock says. “We had a couple of drops and a couple of missed tackles that cost us.”
