Bulldogs roll behind ground game, stifling defense
Springdale 33, Rogers Heritage 7
Springdale opened 7A West play with a bruising rushing attack and a disciplined defense, wearing down Rogers Heritage on the road Friday night. The Bulldogs set the tone early with quarterback Carson Hater’s option keeper to cap the opening scoring drive, then leaned on a two-back hammer in running backs Wilder Larice and Ransel Oriana to control the clock.
Oriana’s five-yard plunge made it 14–0, and kicker AJ Woods stretched the margin with field goals of 37 yards and another just before halftime for a 20–0 lead. Springdale’s offensive front consistently created creases between the tackles, and Larice burst through them after the break, scoring twice—once off a lead block from Oriana and again on a stretch play to the edge—to put the game out of reach.
Heritage showed resolve with its Wing‑T looks and a late spark from Evan Gordon, who sprinted down the sideline for the War Eagles’ lone touchdown. Earlier, Heritage rotated quarterbacks Braden Carroll and Julian Castanada to mix in toss sweeps, counters and quick screens, but the Bulldogs’ pursuit kept explosive plays in check for most of the night.
Springdale’s defense answered each challenge: East Han knifed through for tackles for loss and pounced on a red‑zone miscue, Yandel Sanchez added backfield stops, and the secondary squeezed throwing lanes. Woods punctuated the special‑teams edge with two field goals and multiple touchbacks that tilted field position.
Both teams flashed their identities—Springdale with physical option football, Heritage with variety and effort—but the Bulldogs’ balance and execution in all three phases proved decisive.
