No. 17 Atkins (5-0, 2-0) at No. 1 SALEM (5-0, 2-0)

Atkins is off to its best start since 2018, steamrolling five opponents by a combined margin of 244 to 33, but the Red Devils face a true test against the defending state champion Salem Greyhounds. Atkins is the last team to beat Salem (40-36). Since then, the Greyhounds have won 14 in a row, outscoring their opponents 234-29 this season. Seven different Greyhounds reached the end zone last week in a 69-12 win over Episcopal, with senior QB Jackson Taylor and senior tight end Cole Steman each scoring twice. 

1-3A

No. 6 CHARLESTON (4-1, 1-1) at Hackett (2-3): Charleston looks to rebound from its first loss, 33-27 to Mansfield last Friday, and senior QB Carter Little (21-32 passing, 226 yards, 2 TDs, 2 INTs.; 14-51 rushing, 2 TDs) will play a vital role. Little hooked up with senior WRs Maddix Terry (10-72, TD) and Deegan Todd (5-74, TD) last week. Sophomore LB Finn Schmalz led the defense with 11 tackles. Hackett tries to rebound from a 42-12 loss to No. 7 Booneville behind senior QB Matthew Garner, who passed for 182 yards and a touchdown. Junior receivers Hagen Moses and Austin Williams scored; junior Tomas Ruiz (10 tackles, fumble recovery) and Westin Duboise (10 tackles, 1 TFL) led the defense. Charleston won 43-22 last year, and the Tigers will be plenty motivated after losing to Mansfield.

Greenland (1-4, 1-1) at No. 7 BOONEVILLE (3-2, 2-0): Greenland picked up its first win, beating Cedarville 35-0 last Friday night, but faces a much tougher test against a Booneville team eyeing its fourth consecutive win. 

No. 3 MANSFIELD (5-0, 2-0) at Lavaca (4-1): Mansfield got a big night from senior RB Andrew Burton (30-194 rushing, 3 TDs) in its win last week over Charleston. Burton also had 7 tackles, an interception, a sack, and downed a punt at the Charleston 1. Mansfield held Charleston to 7 points in the second half. Lavaca beat West Fork 56-26 behind senior QB Dalton Mullenix (10-20 passing, 165 yards, 3 TDs; 14-72 rushing). Senior RB Bryson Moore (15-103 rushing, 2 TDs; 3-83 receiving, TD) contributed in a big way. Junior Daniel Taylor (7 tackles) led the defense.

West Fork (0-5, 0-2) at CEDARVILLE (1-4): Winless West Fork enters off a 56–26 loss to Lavaca, with Tigers QB Carson Jones (12-29 passing, 215 yards, 3 TDs, 1 interception) and junior WR Robbie Preston (9-159 receiving, 3 TDs; 74-yard fumble return TD) accounting for all the scoring. Cedarville lost 35–0 to Greenland, but it has the home-field advantage this week, which could be a difference-maker.

No. 13 Mayflower (5-0, 2-0) at No. 20 MELBOURNE (3-2, 0-2): Undefeated Mayflower beat Yellville-Summitt 62-0 and has held rivals to 21 points in 5 games. Success starts in the trenches with senior DE Jeremiah Fuller (3 sacks) and senior DE Jamarion Pirtle (sack, forced fumble) against Yellville-Summitt.  Senior DB Collin McCuien had a strong performance with 3 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass breakup, and an interception. Junior QB Carter Smith was efficient, completing 9 of 13 passes for 162 yards and 4 TDs. Senior WR Marcus Smith was Smith’s top target, catching 3 passes for 89 yards and 2 TDs. Melbourne has dropped back-to-back games — to No. 1 Salem 34-7 and No. 16 Quitman 29-28. The Bearkatz are led by Sophomore QB Abe Cooper, who completed 11 of 22 passes for 170 yards, 3 TDs with 1 Interception, while rushing for 99 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries. Sophomore WR Kyson Cooper caught 4 passes for 96 yards and 2 TDs. Defensively, Garrett Buchanan totaled 10 tackles and a sack, Landon Ripee added 9 tackles and 2 TFLs, and Peyton Elms intercepted a pass. Mayflower won 13-10 last fall, and this one could be just as close on Melbourne’s home field.

Episcopal (0-5, 0-2) at No. 16 QUITMAN (5-0, 2-0): Things don’t get easier for winless Episcopal, which is coming off a 69-12 loss to No. 1 Salem last week. Undefeated Quitman is averaging 43 points per game and its defense hasn’t allowed more than 28 points in a game. The Bulldogs look ready to keep rolling.

Yellville-Summit (0-5, 0-2) at MOUNTAIN VIEW (1-4): Both teams enter off lopsided losses: Yellville-Summit 62-0 to undefeated Mayflower; Mountain View 43-0 to undefeated Atkins. Mountain View looks to use its home field to regain confidence heading into the season’s second half. Yellville-Summit continues to battle despite an 0-5 start.

No. 18 Osceola (1-4, 1-1) at No. 12 NEWPORT (3-2, 1-1):  Osceola has faced a tough start to the season with losses to 4A opponents Mills, Blytheville, and Gosnell, along with last Friday’s 48-20 setback against No. 14 Walnut Ridge. The Seminoles have shown flashes of potential but have yet to find consistency as they prepare for another challenge this week against Newport. Senior Tyler Bell and Senior AJ Brown lead the offensive attack, while juniors Easton Hern and Khamadjh Poole anchor the defense. Newport has also been tested early, dropping games to No. 1 Salem 48-12 and No. 4 Rivercrest 48-38 last Friday night. The Greyhounds put up a strong fight behind Senior Trevion Greer, who carried the ball 19 times for 216 yards and 2 touchdowns. QB Luke Reynolds completed 12 of 17 passes for 160 yards and 1 touchdown, while also rushing for 27 yards and 2 scores. Luke Sampson (10 tackles) led the defense, along with Trae Henderson (2.5 tackles, 1 sack). Last year Osceola defeated Newport 41-27, but with the Greyhounds at home and battle tested, the motivation for revenge runs high.

No. 4 RIVERCREST (3-2, 2-0) at Hoxie (2-3, 1-1): Rivercrest knocked off No. 12 Newport 48 to 38 last Friday. The Colts were led by seniors Jayden Young (7-7 passing, 83 yards, TD; 19-152 rushing, 3 TDs) and Buddha Harris (7-106 receiving, TD). Sophomore Lexx Latham added 13 carries for 65 yards and 2 touchdowns. Hoxie edged Manila 13-6 Friday night to earn its second victory of the season. Senior Mack Slaughter led the way with 14 rushes for 57 yards and a touchdown, while senior Dylann Barnhill added 38 yards and a score on 14 carries. Defensively, Seniors Daniel Bullock (7 tackles) and Christian Nichols (11) led the defense. Junior Brayden Forehand added 9 tackles .Rivercrest won this matchup 42-7 last year.

No. 14 WALNUT RIDGE (4-1, 2-0) at Piggott (0-5, 0-2): Walnut Ridge won its fourth consecutive game, beating Osceola 48-20. The Bobcats have not lost since falling to East Poinsett County back in August. Walnut Ridge rushed for 381 rushing yards against Osceola, led by junior Jace Blake (22-153 rushing, TD), junior Carter Morse (12-77 rushing, 3 TDs) and sophomore Jasper Callahan (16-101 rushing). Piggott fell to 0-5 with a 44-14 loss to Harrisburg.

Manila (0-5, 0-2) at HARRISBURG (1-4, 1-1): Manila enters off a 13-6 loss to Hoxie that showcased the Lions’ toughness. Senior RB Brody Morris (22-167 rushing, TD) led the offense. Harrisburg beat Piggott 44-14 for its first win.  Junior RB Grayson Harkey (3-60 rushing, 3 TDs) scored every time he touched the ball. Harkey rushed 3 times for 60 yards and 3 TDs and caught a 47-yard TD pass. He also recovered 2 fumbles.

4-3A

No. 8 GLEN ROSE (4-1, 2-0) at Jessieville (1-4, 1-1): Glen Rose’s 55-0 win over Magnet Cove last week marked the Beavers’ first shutout of the season and their first since 2023. Senior Austin Moreland (13 tackles, 2 TFL) led the defensive charge, withJunior Riley Cox ( tackles, 3 TFLs) pitching in. Junior QB Gage Hood (8-12 passing, 252 yards, 5 TDs; 2 rushing TDs) led the charge, but senior WR Damien Stevens (5-125 receiving, 125 yards, 3 TDs) was a major contributor. Jessieville defeated Two Rivers 41-20 for its first win. Junior QB Jacob Graves (10-13 passing, 182 yards, 3 TDs, 2 INTs.; 3 rushing TDs) led on offense,  with Tristan Reid (6-65 rushing; 153 receiving, 3 TDs) pitching in. 

PARIS (4-1, 2-0) at Perryville (1-4, 1-1): Paris is off to its best start since 2021 after beating Cutter Morning Star 38-7. Junior QB Josh Honea (9-11 passing, 123 yards, 3 TDs, 1 INT) triggered the offense. Senior RB Dimitri Capo (17-93 rushing, 2 TDs) and sophomore Ty Farmer (3-60 receiving, TD) pitched in. Senior Jayden Carter had 9 tackles, 1 pass breakup, an interception, and an 83-yard punt return. Junior Landon Robberson contributed 8 tackles, and sophomore Harley Barnhill added 8 tackles and a pass breakup. Perryville enters off a 14-2 loss to Danville. Perryville won last year’s matchup, 42-10.

MAGNET COVE (3-2, 1-1) at Two Rivers (1-4, 0-2):  Magnet Cove looks to regroup against Two Rivers after falling to Glen Rose 55-0. Two Rivers opened its season with a 28-21 win over Baptist Prep, but has lost 4 in a row. Magnet Cove this matchup last year 49-14.

Cutter Morning Star (3-2, 1-1) at DANVILLE (2-3, 1-1): Cutter Morning Star enters off a 38-7 loss to Paris, but the Eagles continue to show growth in their second season back in 11 man football. Danville, meanwhile, edged Perryville 14-12 last week. Senior standout Gunner Wilkins (15-80 rushing; 11 tackles, 2 TFL, key stop on 2-point attempt) set the tone. Sophomore QB Jake Crane (7-10 passing, TD; 17-50 rushing, TD) led an effort supplemented by sophomore Lane Schobe (5-31 receiving, TD) and junior defender Elian Cruz (12 tackles). Danville won 34-20 last fall,  but the Little Johns appear to have the edge again with a balanced offense and a physical defense.

7-3A

No. 5 BISMARCK (4-1, 2-0) at Fouke (3-2, 0-2): Bismarck beat Smackover 58-21 last Friday, piling up 475 total yards of offense, including 272 rushing yards and 203 through the air. Senior Caedmon Keithley and sophomore Cayden Burch led a defense that helped Smackover to its lowest points total of the season. Fouke exits a 42-36 loss to  Harmony Grove Ouachita County. Junior QB Cody Heflin completed 12 of 26 passes for 272 yards and 3 touchdowns, and he rushed 9 times for 51 yards and another score. Junior WR Bryce Graves (5-145 receiving, 2 TDs) and junior Grayson McAdams (3-63, TD) made significant contributions. 

Centerpoint (3-2, 2-0) at No. 10 SMACKOVER (4-1, 1-1): Centerpoint enters off a 44-8 win over Parker’s Chapel as the Knights totaled 336 yards with 204 through the air and 132 on the ground. DT Malachi Shumate (10 tackles, 3 TFL) anchored the defensive front. Smackover lost to No. 5 Bismarck last week but remains one of the top contenders in the conference. Centerpoint won this matchup last year.

No. 15 PRESCOTT (4-1, 2-0) at Harmony Grove OC (1-4, 1-1):  Prescott, sharp from start to finish in its 55-0 win over Horatio, was led by Senior QB Dalton Stockton, who completed 9 of 13 passes for 147 yards and 3 TDs. Senior WR Roderick McKinney (2-68 receiving, 2 TDs) and junior RB Kayden Gleason added 7carries for 14 yards and a touchdown along with 1 reception for 11 yards. Treyvion Evans made a big play on defense with a 49-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Harmony Grove Ouachita County beat Fouke 42-36 for its first win. Senior RB Damien Burns (37-327 rushing, 6 TDs) set a school record for rushing yards and TDs. Giovanni Valencia added 4 receptions for 77 yards, while Mason Hearnsberger, Hayden Crawford, Bryson Keener, Nick Star, and Carter McMullen each contributed solid defensive efforts. 

Parker’s Chapel (0-5, 0-2) at HORATIO (0-4, 0-2): Both programs are winless and have faced tough early schedules and will see this game as a chance to reset heading into the second half of the year. Horatio fell to Prescott 55-0 last week and looks for a stronger offensive showing this time out. Parker’s Chapel exits a 44-8 loss to Centerpoint and has been outscored 222 to 54 so far this season. Horatio gets the slight edge at home and will look to repeat last year’s 38-7 victory.

8-3A

Palestine-Wheatley (4-1, 1-1) at No. 2 FORDYCE (5-0, 2-0): Palestine-Wheatley returned home and bounced back from a loss to beat Barton 49-13. Adron Cooper rushed 13 times for 84 yards and 4 TDs, and Brody Parker completed 7 of 11 passes for 182 yards and 2 scores. Now. Palestine-Wheatley hits the road to face a Fordyce team that’s outscored opponents 192-18. Fordyce took this matchup 42-13 last year, and this year’s squad looks just as sharp, firing on all cylinders in every phase. 

No. 19 McGehee (2-3, 1-1) at No. 11 RISON (2-3, 1-1): McGehee beat Lakeside Lake Village 44-8 after suffering back-to-back losses to DeWitt and Drew Central. Rison comes off a narrow 40-34 loss to No. 9 Dumas in a game that went down to the wire. Senior RB Jermiah Marshall led the Wildcats with 10 carries for 67 yards and a touchdown. Junior QB Kyson Walker had 23 carries for 126 yards and 2 touchdowns, adding another score through the air. Rison won this matchup 33-20 last fall.

No. 9 DUMAS (3-2, 2-0) at Barton (2-3, 0-2): Dumas knocked off No. 11 Rison 40-34 and looking like a completely different team from the previous 3 weeks. The Bobcats’ offense posted their highest point total of the season. Barton fell to Palestine Wheatley 49-13, but Christian Williams scored on a 73-yard punt return and had a TD reception. On defense, Qulan Green, Quninteryon Wilson, and Cameron Otey each turned in solid efforts. Dumas won this smatchup last year, 28-7.

DREW CENTRAL (2-3, 1-1) at Lake Village Lakeside (2-3, 0-2): Drew Central lost to Fordyce 46-0 last Friday, after beating McGehee the previous week. Lakeside finds itself in a similar position, entering off a 44-8 loss to McGehee after nearly upsetting Dumas 2 weeks ago.
