WEEK 14 PREDICTIONS  (favored team in ALL CAPS and highlighted)

CLASS 7A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Friday, Dec. 5,  6:30 pm

War Memorial Stadium, Little Rock

West-1 No. 2 Bentonville (12-0, 7-0) vs. CENTRAL-1 NO. 1 BRYANT (12-0,7-0)

Bentonville went down to the wire with Conway last week in the semifinals, scoring the go-ahead touchdown (Chris Ficklin 2-yard run) with 10 seconds remaining to win 26-21. Cole Slepecki (145 pass yards) and Ficklin (100 rush yards) led Bentonville to nearly 300 yards of total offense against a stingy Wampus Cats defense. Kameran Thornton-Mead added a 42-yard TD run out of the Wildcat formation. Defensively, Bentonville limited Conway’s rushing attack that had lit up the scoreboard in previous weeks, holding the Wampus Cats to 249 total yards, well shy of their average weekly output.

Bryant did not lead Rogers at any point in its 2-OT win until Kollin Robinson scored in the second OT. The Hornets pulled off an unimaginable comeback after trailing by 14 points with less than 3 minutes to play. Jeremiah Motes threw for 302 yards and 2 touchdowns to lead the way. Kamauri Austin had 11 catches for 143 yards. This will be the third championship meeting between Bentonville and Bryant in the past 4 seasons. The Hornets are looking for their seventh state title in 8 seasons and their second in a row against Bentonville after winning 28-23 last December. Bryant Coach Quad Sanders is 35-2 since taking over the program in 2023, and the Hornets have won 25 games in a row. Bentonville has played in every state championship game since 2022, losing all 3. Its last state title came in 2014. Coach Jody Grant is 107-27 at Bentonville since taking over as head coach in 2015.

Bryant makes it 7 state titles in 8 seasons on Friday, edging Bentonville.
