ATKINS — On homecoming night at Limley Field, Atkins imposed its will in a 3A‑2 clash, racing to a 29‑0 halftime lead and finishing off Mountain View 43‑0. The Red Devils improved to 5‑0 (2‑0 league) while the Yellowjackets fell to 1‑4 (0‑2). The programs are conference mates in 3A‑2.

Senior QB Cole Crawford efficiently steered the offense, throwing three touchdown passes—to Tanner Hegeman, Davyn Bowden, and Mason Martin—and adding a short scoring run plus a two‑point conversion keeper. Backup QB Ethan Linboom capped the night with a 3‑yard TD strike to Jaxson Koenigseder. K Kenny Rivas converted five PATs.

Atkins’ defense set the tone early and often. Senior LB John Davis delivered multiple drive‑killing sacks, while the front—including Blake Mitchell—collapsed the pocket and forced a goal‑line fumble late in the second quarter to preserve the shutout. The Red Devils rallied to the ball all night, limiting explosives and controlling field position.

Mountain View had flashes. Senior QB Hayden Long found senior WRs Ladd Cook and Tyler Newton for chain‑moving completions, and junior RB Logan Hockenberry and senior Kaden Mannon churned for tough yards. The Jackets’ best chance reached inside the five before a mishandled snap ended the series.
