SHERWOOD — In a dizzying 132‑point duel, Sylvan Hills outlasted Sheridan 84–48 Friday at Bill Blackwood Field, riding senior quarterback Tyler Hampton’s hot hand and a punishing ground game.

Sheridan jumped ahead 20–7 behind sophomore QB Easton Barksdale’s strikes to JP Black and Dylan Smith and junior RB Zay Stephens’ early burst. The Bears answered with pace: Hampton hit receivers all over the yard, and junior RB Isaiah Howell ripped an 80‑yard sprint to flip momentum and send Sylvan Hills to a 42–26 halftime lead.

The Yellowjackets kept swinging. Barksdale found Walker Shields and Black for scores, then converted a two‑point run, and Stephens added a receiving TD to draw within 56–48 late in the third. Sheridan’s defense produced timely stands—senior MLB Cooper Williams knifed into the backfield, junior DB Reid Stevens stoned a fourth‑down option, and senior LB Jaxson Delk pounced on an onside kick—to keep hopes alive.

But the Bears finished with a flurry. Hampton threw two long touchdowns to Tyler Blakely and another to Kadon Williamson and powered in twice himself, while EJ Duckery added a late rushing TD. Up front, Ducy James, Micah Mitchell and Kye Griffin generated pressure and takeaways, including interceptions by Marcus Heard and Griffin, to close it out.
