Greenwood 56, Van Buren 3

Greenwood seized control of the 6A West on Thursday, dismantling Van Buren 56–3 at Smith‑Robinson Stadium. Senior quarterback Kane Archer (QB) accounted for five touchdowns—three through the air and two on the ground—as the Bulldogs raced to a 42–3 halftime lead. He found senior receivers Cooper Bland (WR) and Champ Davis (WR), hitting Bland for an 86‑yard strike and a late seven‑yard score, and Davis for a 39‑yard touchdown. Junior Mario Dunbar (RB)added two short scores, and senior Wesley Raggio (RB) capped the night with a two‑yard plunge.

Greenwood’s defense set the tone early. Sophomore Bryer Hackler (LB) logged multiple sacks while junior Cody Johnson (DL) and senior Jayden Foster (LB) compressed the pocket and stymied the run. The Bulldogs also controlled special teams behind junior Landon Franklin (K), who hit every PAT through the third quarter.

Van Buren showed resolve. Junior Hayden Williford (QB) extended plays and moved the chains to senior Austin Riggs (WR), while sophomore Hayden Christenberry (RB) earned tough yards between the tackles. Senior specialist Manning Dodson (K/P) flipped field position with towering punts and drilled a 34‑yard field goal for the Pointers’ lone points.

Balanced and precise, Greenwood spread the ball to all levels and never allowed momentum to swing. The Bulldogs mixed quick game, play‑action, and designed quarterback runs to keep Van Buren off balance, then closed the door with a grinding second‑half ground game.
