No. 3 ARKADELPHIA (11-1) at No. 2 Elkins (11-1)

This is a rematch of last year’s state championship game, which Arkadelphia won 28-0. Elkins’ only loss this season was at No. 1 Dardanelle by 4 points in Week 1; Arkadelphia’s only setback was against Nashville 24-23 in Week 4. Elkins has won 10 consecutive games by an average of 38 points since losing to Dardanelle; Arkadelphia has won 8 consecutive games by an average of 35 points since its loss to Nashville.

Arkadelphia beat Clinton 23-18 last week when Malachi Hamilton ran 11 yards for the winning touchdown with 39 seconds remaining. Colton Plyler sealed the win with an interception a few plays later. Quarterback Bryston McCoy (19-31 passing, 190 yards, 2 TDs) completed 15 of his passes to Bryce Meakin (9-67, TD) and Cam Archer 6-66, 1).

Elkins advances to the quarterfinals for the fourth consecutive season after slipping by Southside 24-21. Senior QB Ben Napier (17-29 passing, 202 yards, 2 TDs; 1 rushing TD) led a balanced attack. Conner Hamm (18-71 rushing) and Hunter Smith (8-50) led the ground game; Isaiah Haywood (7-84 receiving, TD) was the top pass-catcher. Senior brothers SR Williams (7 tackles, 1 sack) and Brooks Williams (6 tackles) led the defense from the linebacker spots. Hamm added 6 stops, and Jeb Slaughter (3 tackles) sealed the victory with an interception on the final drive.

7-4A (3) Bauxite (9-3) at 8-4A (1) STUTTGART (11-0): Bauxite beat Mills by 12 points to advance to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2007. Freshman QB Wyatt Foreman (173 passing, 3 TDs; 17-110 rushing, 3 TDs) was the key on offense. Caden Metzker (21-152 rushing) and sophomore Gunnar Morris (5-49 rushing) led the ground game. Senior WR Cole Witherington (4-73-1 TD) led the receivers. Lane Hartwick (9 tackles, 1 sack), Mathyis Moore (7 tackles) and Morris (1 interception) played well on defense. Stuttgart returns to the quarterfinals for the first time since 2021 after beating Blytheville 51-12 last week.  Junior QB Cain Price (300 passing, 4 TDs; 1 rushing TD) targeted Caiden Sims (7-152 receiving, 2 TDs). Senior Keaton Byers threw a TD pass, caught a TD and returned a punt for a TD.

BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET

1-4A (3) Prairie Grove (7-5) at 8-4A (3) WARREN (9-3): Warren beat Prairie Grove 48-28 in the 2016 semifinals and 35-13 in the quarterfinals a year later. Prairie Grove slipped past Pocahontas 27-20 last week. Senior Elijah Sugg (school-record 1,960 rushing for the year) ran for 206 yards. Jackson Pierce ran for 50 yards at fullback and made 14 tackles and an interception at linebacker. Blake Coughran added 16 carries for 144 yards and 2 TDs. Warren lost in the quarterfinals last year at Mills by 7 points. Warren led Gosnell by 4 TDs in the second half last week and held on for a 44-42 victory. Middle linebacker Luis Woods played his best game of the season, Coach Bo Hembree says. “Our defense played very well,” Hembree says.

8-4A (4) Monticello (7-5) at 4-4A (1) DARDANELLE (12-0): Monticello rallied from a 21-0 first-half deficit to beat Gravette 48-41. Senior Joseph Accelus (37-408 rushing, 3 TDs) had a huge night; QB Jackson Hines (19-107 rushing, 4 TDs; 29 passing yards) also contributed mightily. Dardanelle senior QB Creed Vega ran 16 yards for a TD with 34 seconds left, then ran around the left side for the winning 2-point conversion to lift the Sand Lizards past Hamburg 35-34. Vega (25-257 rushing, 4 TDs; 172 passing yards, 1 TD) got help from senior WR Chad Chaten (4-101-1 TD) and his brother, sophomore RB Jayvon Chaten (4-44 rushing). Breydin Hardy (17 tackles), Ian Branson (14 tackles) and Vega (13 tackles) led Dardanelle’s defense; Rod Chaten made 7 stops and intercepted a pass to seal the game. Kentrell Diggs had 8 tackles and broke up 3 passes while defending Hamburg’s top receiver in man coverage.
