No. 4 Arkadelphia (2-1) at No. 3 NASHVILLE (3-0)

 Nashville’s 24-23 win at Arkadelphia last season snapped a 4-game losing streak to the Badgers. Arkadelphia’s defense shined 2 weeks ago in a 10-6 victory over Bauxite, forcing 2 fumbles and 1 interception. Badgers QB Turner Ross passed for 152 yards and ran for 43 yards. “Nashville’s defense does a good job of mixing looks to confuse the blocking scheme, so we have to do a good job of understanding that and not letting it get us behind the sticks,” Arkadelphia Coach Chris Kizer says. “Defensively, we have to limit explosive plays and get them off the field on third down.”

  Nashville beat Class 5A Texarkana (Arkansas High) 54-34 2 weeks ago. Senior QB D.J. Jefferson (16-22-348-3 TDs passing) and (13-58-2 TDs rushing) led the Scrappers. Sophomore Jakhari Starr ran for 110 yards and 3 TDs, and receiver Jacoby Hopson caught 4 passes for 79 yards and 1 TD. “They do a good job of getting Starr and Hopson into advantageous situations and allow their athleticism to take over,” Kizer says.

 The Scrappers emphasized tackling better during their open week. “Arkadelphia has many players who can touch the ball and make explosive plays,” Nashville Coach Brad Chessir says. “The sophomore quarterback (Ross) has proven to be a threat in the running and passing game.”

Lincoln (1-2) at No. 10 GRAVETTE ( 2-1): Gravette has won 5 consecutive over Lincoln, including the past 2 by a combined 114-24. Gravette’s 15-14 loss at Grove, Okla., last week was its first of the season. Senior JD Beem ran for 116 yards and 1 TD; senior LB Austin Wolf led the defense with 10 tackles, including 1 sack. Lincoln sandwiched a 36-8 win over Westville, Okla., between losses to Greenland and West Fork, 68-38 combined. Senior QB Korbin Price threw 2 TD passes and ran for 1 TD 2 weeks in a 28-20 setback to West Fork. 

 No. 2 ELKINS (2-1) at No. 20 Gentry (3-0): Elkins must bounce back from last week’s 52-27 loss at Mansfield, its first setback since Week 1, 2025. Elkins has beaten the Pioneers 8 consecutive times, holding them to 2 TDs or less 4 of the past 5 seasons. Elkins QB Austin Born passed for 241 yards and 3 TDs at Mansfield, with Ki’Onte Martin catching 6 balls for 95 yards and 1 TD. Junior Josh Hamm ran for 1 TD and racked up 7 tackles. Gentry QB Sammie Guenther passed for 319 yards and 3 TDs and ran for 1 TD 2 weeks ago vs. Clarksville. Senior receiver Titus Cable tallied 166 yards and 1 TD, while senior Atreyu Banks had a huge game (6-39-1 rushing; 3-109-1 receiving, 9 tackles).

Green Forest (3-0) at PRAIRIE GROVE (0-3): Green Forest hasn’t beaten Prairie Grove since 2004, and in the past 2 seasons Prairie Grove has outscored Green Forest by a combined 106-7. But Prairie Grove is winless this fall, getting outscored by an average of 47-24 each week. Green Forest remained unbeaten with last week’s 35-8 win over Marshall. Senior Hwa Hay Moo led the Tiger rushing attack with 12 carries, 232 yards and 2 TDs. Junior QB Hadley Maybee ran for 2 TDs and led the defense with 13 tackles.

Huntsville (1-2) at BERRYVILLE (2-1): These rivals have played every season since 2006, with Huntsville winning 17 of the 20 matchups. Huntsville ran for 338 yards and 4 TDs 2 weeks ago, in a 28-21 upset victory over previously unbeaten Mayflower. Seniors Garrett McElhaney (13-167-2 TDs rushing) and Wyatt Ingram (13-102-1 TD rushing) led the Eagle ground attack. Berryville counters with a balanced offense, spearheaded by senior QB CT Hicks, who passed for 264 yards and 2 TDs and ran for 57 yards and 1 TD in last week’s 28-21 victory at previously undefeated Cedarville. Senior John Butler tallied 172 yards (87 receiving, 85 rushing) and Isaiah West caught a 71-yard TD pass.

No. 5 BAUXITE (2-1) at No. 15 Lonoke (1-2): These teams haven’t played since being conference foes in 2004-2005 (split those meetings). Bauxite committed 3 turnovers in a 4-point loss at Arkadelphia 2 weeks ago. Sophomore QB Wyatt Foreman left the game late in the third quarter with an arm injury (ran for 104 yards and Bauxite’s only score before the injury). Senior Elijah Perry, who missed the past 2 years with injuries, played QB in Foreman’s absence. Foreman returns to full strength this week, but expect Perry to play some offense. “Our passing game should be better since we are finally able to practice outside (with dropping temperatures),” Coach Caleb Perry says. Lonoke WR/DB D’Mareon Eason, RB/LB Ryder Ingle and TE/LB Jonathan Hixson have played at a high level this season. “Bauxite is physical with a dynamic quarterback,” Lonoke Coach Clay Bemberg says. “We must do a good job of limiting their explosive plays.”

 MAYFLOWER (2-1) at Clinton (0-3): Mayflower must shake off its first loss of the season 2 weeks ago at Huntsville (28-21). Senior QB Carter Smith passed for 256 yards and 2 TDs, while Issac Immel caught 3 passes for 55 yards and threw a 20-yard TD pass. The Eagles defense gave up 338 yards rushing. Clinton gave up 332 yards to Charleston in last week’s 24-21 loss. Senior Harold McNabb ran for 145 yards, led the Yellow Jackets in tackles and intercepted a pass.

HEBER SPRINGS (2-1) at No. 18 Central Arkansas Christian (3-0): Heber Springs beat the Mustangs the past 2 seasons by a combined 6 points. The Panthers pounded Class 5A Dardanelle 60-41 2 weeks ago, with sophomore QB Spencer Sugg breaking the school record he set the previous week, passing for 479 yards and 7 TDs. He also ran for a TD. Six Panthers caught passes, including Noah Engholm (school-record 3 TD receptions) as the Panthers set a school mark with 623 yards. CAC spoiled the unveiling of Dierk’s T-Mobile Stadium in Million Dollar ‘Hollar last week, 33-32. Junior QB Jackson Plumlee passed for 90 yards and 2 TDs and ran for 135 yards and 1 TD. RB Eli Cash ran 10 times for 116 yards and 1 TD and his only reception went 68 yards for the game-winner in the final 2 minutes. Ross Mounts led the defense with 15 tackles.

HG HASKELL (0-3) at Bald Knob (3-0): HG Haskell beat Bald Knob in the first round of the 2022 playoffs. Undefeated Bald Knob beat McCrory 52-30 2 weeks ago, with senior Keegan Smith running for 220 yards and 3 TDs. HG Haskell lost 4 fumbles in last week’s 42-14 loss to Pottsville. Junior RB Ace Garcia ran for 156 yards and 1 TD, while senior OT Barrett Nelson earned a 92-percent blocking grade. Senior LB Noah Bennett had 10 tackles and forced 1 fumble.

No. 6 GOSNELL (3-0) at Pocahontas (1-2): Gosnell has won 2 of the past 3 over Pocahontas, including last season by 20 points. Pocahontas gave up 472 yards in an 18-point loss to Class 5A Brookland 2 weeks ago. Undefeated Gosnell clobbered Osceola 55-14 2 weeks ago, with QB Jamar Allen (10-126-1 TD) and Mason Woods (15-124-3 TDs) sparking the ground game. Junior LB Jeremiah Young (13 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) led the defense.

No. 7 SOUTHSIDE (2-1) at Trumann (0-3): Southside beat Trumann the past 2 seasons by a combined 90-20. The Southerners beat Class 3A Walnut Ridge 27-24 2 weeks ago, behind freshman Ryan McLaughlin‘s 3 TD runs. Senior QB Trey Allen leads the Southerners in rushing yards (405) and passing yards (269) this season. Trumann’s Carlos Morales ran 9 yards for the Wildcats’ only TD in last week’s 42-6 loss to Paragould.

No. 12 HIGHLAND (2-1) at Jonesboro Westside (2-1): Highland has won 4 in a row over Jonesboro Westside. Highland was held to a season-low 161 yards and 7 points in last week’s 21-point loss to Class 5A Harrison. Senior Lexxon Johnson ran for the only Rebels TD. Jonesboro Westside lost at Palestine-Wheatley 35-7 2 weeks ago.

Blytheville (0-3) at No. 17 FORREST CITY (3-0): This is the first meeting since 2019, which Forrest City won by 8 points. Forrest City remained unbeaten with last week’s 50-24 win over Rivercrest. The Mustangs trailed 7-0 in the first quarter until senior QB Kendrick Patterson hit junior Jatavious Lewis with a 37-yard TD pass in the first quarter. Patterson also hit Vonerrious Williams with a TD pass and ran for another score. Blytheville has been outscored 129-0 this season.

No. 8 OZARK (3-0) at Lamar (3-0): A battle of unbeatens. Ozark has never lost to Lamar in the playoff era (but they tied 14-14 in 1995). Ozark claimed the Franklin County Feud over Charleston 2 weeks ago, winning 57-7. Senior Easton Fox ran for 126 yards and 2 TDs, while junior John Skolarski dashed for 159 yards and 2 TDs. Junior LBs Kanyon Connelly (7 tackles) and Easton Sampley (6 tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception) were keys on defense. Lamar has shut out 2 opponents this fall and won every game by at least 27 points. 

 Subiaco Academy (0-3) at No. 9 BOONEVILLE (3-0): Booneville has won 28 consecutive matchups vs. Subiaco Academy, pitching shutouts 15 times. Booneville escaped Class 3A Newport 24-21 2 weeks ago, thanks to Cooper Smithson‘s walk-off 26-yard field goal. QB Tayden Washburn paced the Bearcats rushing attack with 127 yards and 1 TD, while fullback Brody Chambers ran for 69 yards and 2 TDs.

 No. 16 POTTSVILLE (3-0) at Dover (2-1): Pottsville has 9 consecutive wins over Dover. The Apaches remained unbeaten with last week’s 42-14 win at HG Haskell. The Apaches defense recovered 4 fumbles, with Dawson Parker returning 1 for a TD to give them a 14-7 advantage with 2:39 left in the first half. QB Cort Johnson hit Elis Morris on a 51-yard TD pass in the waning seconds of the half.  Dover ran for 470 yards (and passed for zero) 2 weeks ago in a 55-48 shootout victory over Berryville. Senior QB Matthew Krentz ran for 192 yards and 4 TDs, while senior Jacob Roberson added 84 yards and 1 TD.

MENA (1-2) at Waldron (3-0): Mena has 30 straight wins over Waldron. But Waldron is undefeated this season after crushing Cossatot River 58-6 2 weeks ago. The Bulldogs have allowed just 2 TDs. Jaxson Brown ran for 2 TDs in the first quarter, while Gunner Wililams returned an interception for a TD, and Austin Hudson returned a punt for another first-half TD. Mena lost to CAC 35-21 2 weeks ago. Sophomore QB Hank Rose passed for 105 yards and 1 TD, and ran for 161 yards and 1 TD; and senior safety Tycen Baber led the defense with 12 stops.

No. 11 FOUNTAIN LAKE (3-0) at Fouke (2-1): These teams haven’t played since 2008, and Fountain Lake hasn’t beaten Fouke since 2003. But the Cobras are undefeated this season and average 49 points per game. Senior QB Cooper Buss has passed for 963 yards and 10 TDs this year; senior receiver Peyton Harwood has 424 yards and 4 TDs.

Genoa Central (3-0) at MALVERN (1-2): Malvern has beaten Genoa Central the past 2 seasons by a combined 72-0. Malvern picked up its first win in 2 weeks, taking down HG Haskell 21-14 with a late goal-line stand. Junior QB Aaron Pinkston led the win, completing 5 of 6 passes for 56 yards and rushing for 114 yards and 2 TDs. Pinkston also recovered 2 fumbles; junior LB Brad Saling recorded 19 tackles, including 2 sacks. Undefeated Genoa Central is winning with defense (given up 22 points this year). Senior QB Zach Deaton threw a TD pass, and senior Brayden Adams ran 10 times for 56 yards and 1 TD 2 weeks ago in an 18-16 win over Murfreesboro.

HOPE (0-3) at Ashdown (1-2): Hope has 3 wins over the past 3 years, but 2 of them are against Ashdown (25-19 last year, 14-12 in 2023). Hope Coach Phillip Turner served as defensive coordinator at Ashdown before taking over at Hope, and his defensive coordinator at Hope until 3 years ago was current Ashdown Coach Eryc McCaslin. Ashdown picked up its first victory of the season last week, beating De Queen 44-43. Ashdown senior QB Shooter Johnson passed for 367 yards and 6 TDs at De Queen, with senior receiver Bryson French (8-235-5 TDs) emerging as the top target. Junior Tyler Smith (5-77-1 TD) and junior Cale Cleghorn (3-29) also had key receptions.

8-4A

No. 1 STUTTGART (3-0) at Watson Chapel (0-3): Two teams at opposite ends of the football spectrum. Undefeated Stuttgart outscores opponents 45-11 weekly. Senior QB Cain Price has completed 40 of 72 passes for 778 yards and 10 TDs this fall. Watson Chapel gets outscored 44-10 weekly. 

 No. 14 HAMBURG (3-0) at No. 13 Monticello (1-2): Hamburg’s 35-point win last season snapped a 5-game losing skid in the series. Hamburg notched an impressive 55-28 win over Class 5A Camden Fairview 2 weeks ago. Senior QB Kaeden Thomas had a stellar night (12-19-179-2 TDs passing; 27-262-5 TDs rushing), with junior Charles Mooney catching 6 passes for 81 yards and 1 TD. Junior MLB Aiden Robinson had 10 tackles, including 1 sack, and 1 forced fumble. Monticello senior Joseph Accelus ran for 2 TDs (but averaged just 2.2 ypc). Accelus caught a 62-yard TD pass 2 weeks ago in a 47-28 setback at Class 5A Mills. The Billies were hampered by 5 turnovers (4 interceptions, 1 lost fumble) and allowed a kickoff-return TD. 

No. 19 WARREN (1-2) at DeWitt (1-2): Warren hasn’t lost to DeWitt in the modern era, but the past 3 games were decided by 2 TDs or less, including last year’s 28-26 decision. Warren is struggling with injuries this season, and the Lumberjacks have lost consecutive games to Fountain Lake and Sheridan by a combined 101-28, the worst 2-game stretch since losses to Pine Bluff and Lake Village by a combined 106-7 in 1949. DeWitt picked up its first win 2 weeks ago, downing previously unbeaten Helena 37-18, despite committing 2 turnovers. Dragons QB Kaden Pippenger has completed passes to 8 different receivers this fall. Rae Frye leads DeWitt’s receivers, and Landyn Graham is the top rusher. End Kaiden Golden, linebacker Camron Mitchell, and safety Xa Cox have led the defense.

Star City (2-1) at CROSSETT (1-2): These teams have split the past 8 meetings, and both are coming off Week 3 losses (Star City 42-24 at Cross County and Crossett 36-30 to Lake Village). Star City senior RB Parker Winn ran for 82 yards, while slotback Ky Griffith had 6 carries, 75 yards, and 3 TDs. Sophomore LBs Fernando Palmerin (9 tackles) and Tristan Taylor (12 tackles, 1 fumble recovery) led the defense. Crossett senior QB Cash Forrest passed for 223 yards and 4 TDs and ran for 143 yards vs. Lake Village; Tyjuan Gibson caught 4 passes for 96 yards and 3 TDs.
