CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME RECAP
Shiloh Christian 70, Greenwood 50
The Shiloh Christian Saints (11-2 overall) avenged an earlier loss this season by rolling up 688 yards of offense in a 70-50 victory over Greenwood in Saturday night’s Class 6A State Championship Game at War Memorial Stadium. Shiloh Christian earned its ninth state football championship (1998, 1999, 2001, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2020, 2025) behind senior tailback and final MVP Griffin Mason’s 182 yards rushing with 4 TDs. Saint quarterback Cole Creighton completed 19 of 26 passes for 291 yards and 3 TD tosses to Chandler Kemp, who caught 8 passes for 150 yards. Charlie Kroell ran 9 times for 104 yards and a score. Greenwood’s loss was its first since the 2022 Class 6A state championship game, a 35-28 loss to Pulaski Academy, and it was senior QB and Utah signee Kane Archer’s first loss as a starter. Archer completed 15 of 24 passes for 296 yards and 4 TDs, and he rushed 26 times for 127 yards and 2 TDs. Cooper Bland led the Bulldogs’ receivers with 5 receptions for 118 yards and 3 TDs. This year’s final was a sliding doors moment of sorts, with Shiloh Christian bumping up to Class 7A for the 2026-2027 cycle due to the competitive equity rule. It is also possible that Greenwood drops down to Class 5A for the next cycle.
RISERS
The Sylvan Hills Bears embarked on one of the more impressive 1-year turnarounds of recent times, ending a 20-game losing streak in the 2025 opener en route to a 9-1 regular season, a share of the 6A East conference championship, and the school’s first semifinal appearance since 2020. Conference coaches picked the Bears seventh out of 8 teams in the 2025 Hooten’s Arkansas Football magazine. League coaches picked El Dorado fifth and Jonesboro sixth in the preseason, but those schools wound up hosting and winning a playoff game in November.
