CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME
Saturday, 6:30 p.m., War Memorial Stadium
No. 2 Shiloh Christian (10-2) vs. No. 1 GREENWOOD (12-0)
These teams meet for the fourth time in the past 2 seasons on Saturday night. Greenwood has topped Shiloh Christian in the past two regular-season meetings to essentially clinch the 6A West conference title, and the Bulldogs bested the Saints last December for the Class 6A state championship. Greenwood downed Shiloh Christian 35-24 on Sept. 26 in the teams’ conference opener.
Shiloh Christian scores more than 48 points per game, and the Saints surrender 20 points per outing. Shiloh Christian returns to the state finals for the seventh consecutive season after toppling 6A East co-champion Sylvan Hills 52-28 a week ago. The Saints never trailed at Sherwood, leading 28-12 at halftime. The Saints got 3 touchdown runs from Charlie Kroell, with Griffin Mason scoring once. Quarterback Cole Creighton tossed 4 TD passes.
Greenwood enters its sixth consecutive championship game with Class 6A’s top scoring offense (49 points per game), and the stingiest scoring defense (19.5 points per game). The Bulldogs seek their third 3-peat since 2005. Quarterback Kane Archer, a Utah commit and 2-time 6A Championship game MVP, spearheaded Greenwood’s 63-45 semifinal victory over Benton by completing 22 of 28 passes for 253 yards and 4 TDs, and rushing 18 times for 135 yards and 2 scores. Senior all-state performer Champ Davis (15-151 rushing, 3 TDs; 3-94 receiving, 2 TDs) led the Bulldogs, who rushed for 322 yards in the semifinals against Benton. Cooper Bland (3-94) caught Archer’s other 2 TD passes. Blaze McDaniel (9 tackles against Benton), Drew Dickinson (8 stops), Bryer Hackler (6 tackles) and Travir Shelton (6 stops) led the Greenwood defense. Senior Cody Johnson has recorded 58 tackles in 2025 with 15 tackles for losses, including 7 sacks.
These have been the top 2 teams in the Hootens.com rankings throughout the 2025 regular season, so this matchup is no surprise. In the end, Greenwood wins its 39th consecutive game to cap one of the more dominant three-year runs the state has seen.
