WEEK 12 PREDICTIONS  (favored team in ALL CAPS and highlighted)

TOP OF THE BRACKET
West-5 Springdale (5-6, 3-4) at WEST-1 NO. 2 BENTONVILLE (10-0, 7-0): Bentonville looks to remain undefeated after receiving a first-round bye. Bentonville throttled Springdale 63-7 less than a month ago, but Springdale has won its past 2 games, a Week 10 win over Northside and a playoff road win last week at Cabot. Carson Hayter accounted for 5 TDs last week. Bentonville QB Cole Slepecki and the Tigers are full of weapons and have already proven they won’t struggle stopping an option attack.
West-3 No. 5 Bentonville West (8-3, 5-2) at CENTRAL-2 NO. 4 CONWAY (8-2, 6-1): The Wolverines have won 4 of their past 5, the only loss coming Week 10 to Bentonville by 17. Asher Swoboda caught the game-tying TD in last week’s playoff victory over North Little Rock with less than a minute left in the game. An extra point kept a hot Charging Wildcat team from pulling off the upset. Conway has 2 losses, 1 to No. 1 Bryant and the other to No. 2 Bentonville. Conway’s Week 10 loss to Bryant could’ve gone either way, although many had predicted that the Hornets would win by a much larger margin. This matchup will come down to which defense can get the timely stops. The Wampus Cats lean on that home-field advantage and edge Bentonville West.

BOTTOM OF THE BRACKET

West-4 No. 6  Fayetteville (7-4, 4-3) at CENTRAL-1 NO. 1 BRYANT (10-0,7-0): Bryant returns to action after receiving a first-round bye, and it looks to continue its defense of last year’s state title. The Hornets edged Conway 2 weeks ago for the 7A Central conference crown. Fayetteville brings a 4-game win streak to Bryant, during which it has scored 52.5 points per game. Hank Hendrix leads a Fayetteville offense that finds its right where everyone expected, in the mix to make a title run. Hendrix threw 4 TDs a week ago as Coach Casey Dick’s team defeated Pulaski Academy 58-31 in the opening round. Fayetteville’s defense intercepted 3 Bruins’ passes. Bryant is rested and ready, and makes it challenging for Fayetteville to find the end zone. The Hornets win at home.

Central-3 No. 7 Little Rock Christian (8-3, 5-2) at WEST-2 NO. 3 ROGERS (9-1, 6-1): Rogers has been explosive on offense all season, and last week’s bye provided QB Jeff Regan extra rest, which might prove meaningful. Rogers’ only loss was by 3 points to No. 2 Bentonville. Little Rock Christian beat Springdale Har-Ber 44-34 in the first round. Sophomore QB Eli Robertson accounted for 4 TDs in the win. Workhorse RB Jackson Ward carried the ball 29 times for 220 yards and 2 TDs.

A rested Regan lights up the scoreboard and leads Rogers to victory.
