HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK

No. 2 BENTONVILLE (6-0, 3-0) at No. 7 Fayetteville (3-3, 1-2) Bentonville is riding high after a 42-0 shutout win over Heritage. Blair Irvin III (1 TD) and Chris Ficklin (2 TDs) led the charge with quick scores in the first quarter. Heritage put together a few drives, but could not find the end zone. Fayetteville scored 62 on Northside a week ago after putting up 55 in an OT loss to Rogers. Coach Casey Dick’s team seems to be improving down the stretch after the loss to Rogers and last week’s shutout win.

WEEK 7 PREDICTIONS  (favored team in ALL CAPS and highlighted)

7A CENTRAL

No. 6 LR CHRISTIAN (4-2, 2-1) at No. 10 North LR (2-4, 1-2): This is a matchup to keep an eye on. Little Rock Christian is in contention for a first-round bye and home-field advantage in the quarterfinals. North Little Rock can work its way into a playoff position. It feels like Coach Brad Bolding’s North Little Rock team is inching forward slowly, but surely. Sparkplug sophomore QB Robert Johnson leads the offense, flashing the ability to score through the air and on the ground. Class 7A playoff contenders in recent seasons have had offenses led by a dual-threat QB and solid defensive play.

Cabot (1-5, 1-2) at No. 8 PULASKI ACADEMY (2-4, 2-1): Cabot put up 28 points, stayed within 2 scores into the third quarter, but the Wampus Cats pulled away. Cooper Powell topped 100 yards rushing for Cabot. PA counters with a similar result from last week. The Bruins played great on defense in the first half, but Bryant was too much after halftime. But the Bruins are 2-1 in conference and could move closer to hosting a first-round playoff game with a win.

No. 4 CONWAY (5-1, 3-0) at Little Rock Central (2-4, 0-3): Conway’s Trey Harris dazzled Friday and led the Wampus Cats to victory over Cabot. Conway’s defense limited big plays, and they are 3-0 in conference and in good position for postseason play. Central enters Friday’s game needing a win to get back on track. A huge second quarter for LR Christian made the difference last week. The Tigers have their work cut out for them again defensively as Conway brings physicality and speed to Quigley.

LR Southwest  (0-6, 0-3) at No. 1 BRYANT (6-0, 3-0): Pulaski Academy hung with Bryant in the first half last week, but the Hornets poured it on in the second half to win 48-14. Kollin Robinson scored 3 rushing TDs and Kamauri Austin added 2 TD catches from different QBs in the win. Speedy LR Southwest QB Derrick Vasser was kept at bay against North Little Rock. Southwest has struggled to stop the run in 2025, and Bryant has one of the best attacks in the state, maybe the country.

7A WEST

No. 2 BENTONVILLE (6-0, 3-0) at No. 7 Fayetteville (3-3, 1-2): The Tigers are riding high after a 42-0 shutout win over Heritage. Blair Irvin III (1) and Chris Ficklin (2) again led the charge with quick scores in the first quarter. Heritage put together a few drives, but could not find the end zone. Fayetteville enters after scoring 62 on Northside last week. Coach Casey Dick’s team had its best offensive showing since the opener with Cabot. The Purple Dogs seem to be improving after losing by 1 to Rogers in OT 2 weeks ago and smashing Northside last week.

FS Northside (0-6, 0-3) at ROGERS HERITAGE (0-6, 0-3): One of these teams will get its first win of the season. Heritage had some success between the 20-yard lines offensively last week, but drives ultimately stalled. The winless War Eagles have to limit the big plays. Bentonville scored multiple TDs on explosives.

No. 3 ROGERS (6-0, 3-0) at No. 9 Springdale (3-3, 2-1): Rogers amassed nearly 600 offensive yards and 10 touchdowns as it rolled to victory over West, which put up 42 points against a Mounties defense that has shown some holes. Rogers’ Jeff Regan is the highlight in every week’s article for every writer. Regan and Titus Cramer both topped 200 rushing yards. Regan played a part in 7 of 10 TDs for the Mounties. Springdale held on to beat rival Har-Ber 47-43 on the road, and the Bulldogs have won 2 of their last 3 games. Carson Hayter had nearly 300 yards of offense and 3 total TDs.

Springdale Har-Ber (2-4, 1-2) at No. 5 BENTONVILLE WEST (4-2, 2-1): Har-Ber dropped a heartbreaker at home to rival Springdale despite scoring 43 points. It has some defensive work to do. The same could be said for West, which scored 42 points at Rogers behind 404 yards of offense but could not keep Jeff Regan and the Mounties out of the end zone. Another big game from QB Tre Thompson is necessary for the Wolverines to win.
