WEEK 7 PREDICTIONS (favored teams in ALL CAPS and highlighted in Orange)

HOOTENS.COM GAME OF THE WEEK:

No. 2 Bentonville West (6-0; 3-0) at No. 6 SPRINGDALE HAR-BER (4-2; 2-1): Most likely didn’t project this matchup as a Game of the Week heading into Week 7, but both teams enter the week in the top 6 in the polls. Bryan Pratt’s Bentonville West team remained undefeated, knocking off pesky Rogers  31-22. The Wolverines may have the best defense in Class 7A, and they continue to be efficient offensively. Bentonville West’s offense averages 38.0 points per game. Har-Ber (2-1 in the 7A West) comes off a 39-16 win over crosstown rival Springdale. Har-Ber’s only conference loss was a 1-possession setback against Bentonville. Upset alert! Coach Aaron Danenhauer and Springdale Har-Ber knock off undefeated Bentonville West and move to 3-1 in conference play.

7A WEST

Rogers Heritage (0-6, 0-3) at No. 1 SHILOH CHRISTIAN (6-0; 2-0): Jayden Cortes helped Heritage start fast last week against Bentonville, but the Tigers’ depth was too much for the War Eagles. The Tigers scored the final 49 points in a 49-7 win. Another big night from Cole Creighton (17-27-292 passing, 2 TDs; 10-64 rushing, TD) helped Shiloh Christian hold off Fayetteville. Charlie Kroell (146 yards rushing, TD) and Landon Sabatini (100 receiving yards, TD) contributed for Shiloh. Heritage has its hands full as it visits Champions Stadium in Springdale. Shiloh rolls.

No. 9 Fayetteville (3-3; 1-2) at No. 3 BENTONVILLE  (5-1; 2-1): Fayetteville fell short last week in a 24-point loss to No. 1 Shiloh Christian.  Bentonville bounced back with a 49-7 victory over Rogers Heritage. Bentonville is averaging 25 points per game, a little lower than usual, but the 5-1 record tells the story. The Tigers make plays when it matters. QB Evan Canode and Bentonville protect the house and knock off Fayetteville.

Springdale (1-5; 1-2) at ROGERS (0-6; 0-3): Springdale beat Rogers Heritage to open conference play, but has lost back-to-back games, including last week’s rivalry matchup, by 23 points to Springdale Har-Ber. Rogers is winless, but it seems to be improving weekly, losing by 9 points last week to undefeated Bentonville West. Rogers gets it going this week and uses its home-field advantage to defeat Springdale.

7A CENTRAL

Little Rock Central (1-5; 0-3) at No. 4 CONWAY (5-1; 3-0): Central has big-play ability, but two second quarters cost them last week in their loss to Little Rock Christian. Coach Anthony Robinson returned to lead the team, and there were some bright spots. Torie Enlow Moore had a 60-yard punt return, and Kadyn Dunn punched in a 97-yard rushing TD, but the defense gave Little Rock Christian too much room to roam. Conway and Cabot traded blows in the first half last week, but the Wampus Cats dominated the second half, scoring the game’s final 42 points to win 69-14. QB Ryder Cook was stellar (17-22-189 passing, 1 TD; 5-111 rushing, 2 TDs). Conway has no trouble with Central this Friday.

No. 5 North Little Rock (5-1; 2-1) at No. 7 LITTLE ROCK CHRISTIAN (4-1; 2-0): North Little Rock’s 55-7 win over Fort Smith Northside has the Charging Wildcats sitting at 2-1 in 7A Central play. North Little Rock was held to 20 points in its loss to Conway, but it still averages 43 points per game. Little Rock Christian QB Haden Hall (220 yards, TD)  looked sharp and consistent in the Warriors’ victory over Little Rock Central last week. The Warriors threw 1 interception, but the offense took advantage of  Tigers’ miscues in the first half. Nick Harp (4-48 rushing, TD; 8-yard TD reception; QB sack on defense) continues to be a guy that Little Rock Christian can count on for big plays. Little Rock Christian and Hall knock off the Charging Wildcats by finishing drives down the stretch.

No. 8 BRYANT (2-4; 2-1) at Fort Smith Northside (2-4, 0-2): The Hornets bounced back after losing their first conference game since 2018 to Little Rock Christian in Week 5. Bryant’s 2-QB system worked well as senior Kyler Shelby and sophomore Judah Summers accounted for 6 of 7 TDs in a 49-14 win over Pulaski Academy. Summers threw an 89-yard TD pass to Dantrell Wilkins, sparking 7 consecutive scores for the Hornets. Northside struggled in a 55-7 loss to North Little Rock. Bryant wins on the road and moves to 3-1 in conference play.

No. 10 PULASKI ACADEMY (2-4; 1-2) at Cabot (2-3, 1-1): Pulaski Academy found the end zone first last week at Bryant as Caleb Sullivan connected with Chase Hancock, but Bryant scored 49 consecutive points to win. Cabot started fast last week against Conway: QB Tyce Fletcher threw a TD pass to Cannon Moore and the Panthers got a rushing TD from Bryce Moore. Conway’s depth took hold as the Wampus Cats scored 62 unanswered points and looked dominant. Pulaski Academy, potentially with QB Patrick Landreaux getting the nod, bounces back with a victory at Cabot.
