Mills 28, Osceola 17

LITTLE ROCK — Mills handled Week 0 business, beating Osceola 28–17 at Comet Stadium in a crisp, fast opener. The Comets grabbed control with explosive plays and special teams, then leaned on defense to seal the finish. The win puts the 4A Comets at 1–0 and gives 3A Osceola a telling road test to start 2025.

Sophomore quarterback Elijah Moody set the tone with a 78-yard keeper and later feathered a red-zone touchdown strike, showing poise in his first varsity Week 0 start. Return man Alan Hall opened the fireworks with a 90-yard kickoff return. Running back Za’marion McDonald bullied in a third-quarter score, while wide receiver Torrance “TJ” Talbot Jr. climbed the ladder for six. Receiver Chase Slater stacked chain-moving grabs as Mills’ offense balanced pace and power.

Osceola countered with speed and grit. Senior quarterback Tyler Bell zipped a first-half touchdown to Siquori Bonner and later scrambled for a fourth-quarter score. Receiver Anthony Brown sparked a long catch-and-run, while MJ Washington moved the chains with direct snaps and screens. Kicker Jeremiah McGowan drilled a 34-yard field goal to open the night. The Seminoles’ defensive front forced long fields and made the Comets earn their yardage.

Defensively, Mills’ secondary contested throws late, with Aaron Frierson active at the catch point as the Comets protected a two-score cushion.
