Conway 68, Jonesboro 37

CONWAY — Conway opened 2025 in full throttle, piling up explosive plays and pulling away from Jonesboro for a 68–37 win at John McConnell Stadium on Friday.

Senior QB Wesley Tapp set the tone with a 70-yard strike to WR Alex McCray, then added two keeper touchdowns as the Wampus Cats turned a tight first half into a runaway. Tapp finished with three touchdown passes and two rushing scores behind an offensive line anchored by OL Kingston Jackson and OL Isaiah Bowman. RB Trey Harris ran with intent, punching in three touchdowns and eclipsing 100 yards, while RB Amari Davis also topped the century mark and scored. WR Kambrien Blackmon’s sideline grab set up more points, and TE Dawson McFadin later hauled in a late touchdown from sophomore QB Ryder Cook to cap the onslaught.

Jonesboro showed plenty of firepower. Senior QB Asa Myers attacked the edges and connected often with WR Kam Davis and WR Kamari Fisher, including a long scoring toss to Davis. RB TJ Brown’s running kept the Hurricane within reach through three quarters, and WR/DB Ojay Cullins and RB K’Den Hawkins added chain-moving touches. Jonesboro’s special teams also blocked a point-after in the third.

Conway’s defense bent but delivered high-leverage stops after halftime, highlighted by LB Stephon Wade’s tipped-ball takeaway and a fourth-down stuff near midfield. For Conway, it’s momentum into a difficult road swing; for Jonesboro, explosive skill talent and a seasoned quarterback suggest points won’t be a problem as the Hurricane fine-tune on defense.
