CABOT — Ryder Cook accounted for 300 yards and three touchdowns Friday as Conway erased two early deficits and overwhelmed Cabot 69-14. The Wampus Cats scored the game’s final 62 points, including 42 after halftime, while their defense kept the Panthers off the scoreboard for the final 35 minutes.

Cook completed 17 of 22 passes for 189 yards and a touchdown and rushed five times for 111 yards and two scores, according to the broadcast’s postgame statistics. Dereon Holt and Atraio McJoy added two rushing touchdowns apiece as Conway improved to 5-1. Cabot fell to 2-4.

The Panthers attacked early. Tyce Fletcher converted a fourth-and-long on the opening possession, and a Conway facemask penalty helped extend the march. Fletcher then found Cannon Moore for a touchdown with 10:38 left in the first quarter. Cabot’s subsequent onside-kick attempt did not keep Conway from answering.

Cook found Kambrien Blackmon for a third-down conversion on the response, and McJoy moved the ball into the red zone. After Elijah Collum’s catch carried Conway to the 6, Holt cut through the defense for the tying touchdown. Crosby Kear’s extra point made it 7-7 with 7:03 remaining in the quarter.

Cabot regained the lead after intercepting Cook in the end zone. Fletcher connected with Cannon Moore on a long gain, and the Panthers later converted another fourth down to reach the goal line. Bryce Moore scored from a direct snap early in the second quarter; Riku Jones’ kick put Cabot ahead 14-7 with 11:09 left in the half.

That was the Panthers’ last score. Conway recovered another onside attempt and began its next possession at midfield. Blackmon’s receiving and Cook’s running moved the Wampus Cats into scoring position, and McJoy finished the drive with a short touchdown run to tie it with 8:24 remaining.

Cook put Conway ahead for good on a 67-yard option keeper with 5:15 left before halftime. The two-point run failed, leaving the lead at 20-14. The Wampus Cats added a late six-play, 80-yard touchdown drive, with a deep completion to Blackmon setting up Cook’s scoring pass to Collum and a 27-14 halftime advantage.

Cook opened the second-half scoring with another keeper at the 10:21 mark. McJoy added a 4-yard touchdown run, and Holt scored again with 2:49 remaining in the third quarter. Conway’s pressure helped create that separation: Jackson Braden recorded his second sack of the night, and Bennett Moseley delivered a fourth-down hit that ended a Cabot possession.

The reserves kept Conway moving. Hudson McFadin added a touchdown during a broadcast interruption, MJ Gibson scored with 4:50 left in the fourth quarter, and Braylon Harris finished with an 8-yard touchdown run after Conway recovered the ensuing kickoff.

Blackmon led the receivers with nine catches for 125 yards, while Collum caught four passes for 40 yards and a touchdown. Holt finished with 89 yards on 13 carries; McJoy ran six times for 66 yards and added two catches for 19. Conway hosts Little Rock Central next, and Cabot hosts Pulaski Academy.
