Criswell, Goodall power Atkins past Jessieville

Atkins 46, Jessieville 6
ATKINS — Brelan Criswell and Cooper Goodall combined for 257 rushing yards and three touchdowns before halftime, and Ethan Linboom accounted for three scores as Atkins defeated Jessieville 46-6 Friday on homecoming night.
The Red Devils intercepted three passes and converted each into a touchdown. They led 22-0 after one quarter and 36-6 at halftime before Linboom’s second rushing touchdown started the running clock in the third quarter. Atkins improved to 7-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play.
Goodall opened the scoring on third-and-eight, following his blockers around the outside for a 37-yard touchdown with 10:23 left in the first quarter. Mike Guerro kicked the first of his five successful extra points. After Atkins forced a punt, Criswell’s 24-yard run helped set up Linboom’s four-yard keeper. An offsides penalty moved the conversion attempt closer, and Linboom ran for two points to make it 15-0 with 7:14 remaining.
Mason Vick supplied a sack on another Jessieville possession before Noah Metcalf intercepted a pass. Criswell turned that takeaway into points on the next play, running 48 yards for a touchdown with 2:13 left in the quarter. He scored again from 13 yards with 10:21 remaining in the half, working behind an unbalanced offensive line and downfield blocks from Cooper Horn and Sawyer Bartlett.
Jessieville answered with Jaxton Sibley’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Tristan Reid at the 5:11 mark of the second quarter. Atkins stopped the two-point attempt, keeping its lead at 29-6.
The Red Devils added another touchdown before intermission after Lane Huddleston intercepted a pass with 56 seconds remaining. Goodall supplied two runs to move Atkins into scoring position, and Linboom threw left to Jaxson Koenigseder, who broke a tackle and carried defenders into the end zone on a 22-yard completion. Guerro’s kick made it 36-6 with 25 seconds left.
The school broadcast’s halftime tally credited Criswell with 157 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries and Goodall with 100 yards and a touchdown on seven attempts. Those figures are first-half totals, not final statistics.
Braxton Coffman’s third-quarter interception ended Jessieville’s opening possession of the half. Vick helped Atkins move away from its own goal line, and Linboom later found Metcalf for a completion to the Jessieville 4. Linboom scored from there with 7:18 remaining in the quarter, extending the lead to 43-6 after Guerro’s extra point.
Guerro completed the scoring with a 30-yard field goal with 30 seconds left. He accounted for eight points, making all five extra-point attempts and his lone field-goal try.
