Glen Rose 35, Malvern 21 — Beavers snap the streak in Leopard Stadium
BRICK BOWL: Glen Rose 35, Malvern 21
That atmosphere was electric in Hot Spring County, and Glen Rose delivered — a statement win in the in-county rivalry to open 2025. It’s the Beavers’ first Brick Bowl win since 2018, and it came in front of a juiced Week 1 crowd at Malvern.
Junior QB Gage Hood put the offense on his back and accounted for five touchdowns—three rushing and two passing—as Glen Rose pulled away after the break. The game was tied 21–21 at halftime, but the Beavers pitched a 14–0 second half to close it out.
-
Fast start, instant fireworks. After trading turnovers, Hood ripped a deep ball to Parker Davis down to the Malvern 5, then punched in a 5-yard TD himself to even it 7–7 late in Q1.
-
Trading haymakers. Hood’s 1-yard TD made it 14–7 early Q2; Malvern answered to tie it 14–14. Hood then hit Noah Draper for a 22-yard score and a 21–14 lead before Malvern’s Tavien Clegg sprinted for a 32-yard TD to knot it 21–21 before the half.
-
The knockout. Early Q3, Hood’s third rushing TD put Glen Rose up 28–21, and a little later he found Parker Davis for an 8-yard TD to make it 35–21—and that was the ballgame. The Beaver defense handled the rest.
QB Gage Hood (JR) — Five total TDs (3 run, 2 pass). That’s a grown-man rivalry performance to start ’25.
-
WR/DB Parker Davis (SR) — Chunk play early to set up points and the third-quarter TD that broke it open.
-
WR/DL Noah Draper (SR) — 22-yard TD catch in Q2.
-
WR/DB Damien Stevens (SR) — A steady target all night and a key two-way piece for 3A power Glen Rose.
-
Glen Rose opens 2–0 with a rivalry trophy and big-time momentum for a program that expects to contend in 3A-4every year. First-year head coach Steven Kehner also pockets his first Brick Bowl dub.
-
Malvern showed plenty of fight — 21 first-half points and explosive plays — and that travels. The Leopards are built to roll into conference with confidence.
