Glomski’s overtime field goal lifts Jonesboro past Lakeside

Alex Glomski kicked a 28-yard field goal in overtime, and CJ Lovelace scored four rushing touchdowns as Jonesboro defeated Hot Springs Lakeside 31-28 Friday night at Centennial Bank Stadium.
Lakeside drove 80 yards on its opening possession, finishing with quarterback James Hall’s 2-yard touchdown run. The extra point was unsuccessful, leaving the Rams ahead 6-0.
Jonesboro forced a punt after three consecutive Lakeside plays lost yardage.
Lovelace’s touchdown run and Glomski’s extra point put Jonesboro ahead 7-6 in the second quarter. Hall answered with another 2-yard score, this time on fourth-and-goal, and Ben Kilgore’s kick gave Lakeside a 13-7 halftime lead.
Kameron Davis returned the second-half kickoff 39 yards to Jonesboro’s 49. Lovelace finished the ensuing possession with his second touchdown run, giving the Hurricane a 14-13 advantage.
Lakeside regained the lead on Logan Polczynski’s 1-yard touchdown run. Polczynski added the two-point conversion for a 21-14 lead.
Facing third-and-13, Lovelace completed a 42-yard pass to Davis. Lovelace scored from 10 yards on the next play, and Glomski’s kick tied the game 21-21.
Davis added a 15-yard run on Jonesboro’s next touchdown drive. Lovelace’s fourth touchdown, a 40-yard run in the fourth quarter, put Jonesboro ahead 28-21.
Polczynski’s 42-yard run helped position Lakeside for another answer. On fourth-and-3 from Jonesboro’s 5, Hall threw under pressure to Polczynski for a touchdown. Kilgore’s extra point tied it 28-28.
Jonesboro recovered the game’s only turnover, a fumble, with 2:27 remaining. A fourth-down pass-interference penalty extended the Hurricane’s final possession, but a 51-yard field-goal attempt fell short as regulation expired.
Lakeside received the first overtime possession. Jonesboro’s defense produced a 4-yard tackle for loss, then stopped the Rams when Hall’s fourth-and-goal pass from the 4 fell incomplete.
Jonesboro’s possession ended with Glomski’s winning kick. He also converted all four extra points, accounting for seven points.
