Greenbrier 49, Clarksville 7
CLARKSVILLE — Greenbrier sprinted out early and never looked back Friday, beating Clarksville 49–7 in a 5A‑West clash on the road. Greenbrier scored on four straight possessions to start the night. Senior quarterback Jack Palmer carved up the secondary with five crisp touchdown passes, staking the Panthers to a 27–0 first‑quarter lead and adding another score before halftime.
Palmer’s throws went to Lucas Thompson on the opener, Salter Mahan twice, Trendon Moseley, and Y‑back Christian Dearasaugh, each showing yards‑after‑catch burst in head coach Randy Tribble’s up‑tempo spread. Running back Carden Blue powered in two conversions and piled up tough inside yards as Greenbrier controlled field position and tempo.
Greenbrier’s defense matched the fast start. Defensive back Ethan Smith jumped a route for a second‑quarter pick‑six that stretched the margin to 33–0, while linebacker Ace Newland and the front repeatedly set hard edges to bottle the run. Kicker Ethan Rhodes added a point after, and sophomore quarterback Easton Jutze later kept for a short third‑quarter score.
Clarksville answered just before intermission with a deliberate march, capped by senior running back Denver Pickartz’sshort plunge. Wideout/safety Rylan Melson made multiple open‑field tackles and provided the Panthers’ best early spark, and quarterback James Cook guided a mix of gun and tight formations.
With the win, Greenbrier maintains its unbeaten start and heads home to face Farmington next week; Clarksville looks to regroup in league play.
