Nashville 56, Ashdown 14

NASHVILLE — Sophomore quarterback Jacoby Hopson powered Nashville past rival Ashdown on Friday, rushing for three touchdowns while steering a balanced Scrapper attack that pulled away after halftime. Hopson (So., QB) repeatedly punished the edges and kept chains moving behind a veteran line, with Trendon Northcross (So., RB/DB) adding one rushing score and later a receiving TD to finish off two methodical drives.

Ashdown answered early behind senior quarterback Riley Williamson, who kept plays alive and found junior wideout Bryson French for a strike that cut the deficit to 20–14 late in the second quarter. Ahmari Spencer (Jr., FS/K) punched in the Panthers’ first touchdown and handled place‑kicking duties.

Nashville’s defense controlled the second half. Senior end Makhi “MJ” Johnson was unblockable, recording multiple sacks and forcing a turnover that set up a short field; the Scrappers cashed in and never looked back.

Junior DJ Jefferson provided a spark off the bench, zipping a red‑zone touchdown to Gauge Applegate (So., WR) and later finding Northcross on a swing pass for another score as Nashville closed on a 29–0 run after the break.

Both teams flashed big‑play ability—Ashdown with French’s vertical speed and extended plays by Williamson; Nashville with depth across the skill spots and a front seven that took over late.
