JONESBORO — Jonesboro stormed out of the halftime locker room with 28 unanswered points in the third quarter to erase a 34–21 deficit, defeating DeSoto Central 49–34 on Friday night at Cooksey-Johns Field.
Running back TJ Brown delivered a career night, scoring four touchdowns—three on the ground (11, 24, 52 yards) and one on a 19-yard reception. Quarterback Asa Myers orchestrated the comeback with three touchdown passes, including strikes of 42 and 45 yards to wide receiver Kameron “Cam” Davis, who finished with two scores. Kden Hawkinsadded the spark out of halftime with a 67-yard end-around touchdown, and kicker Alex Glomski converted all seven extra points.
DeSoto Central looked dominant early behind quarterback Eric Perry, who ran for four touchdowns in the first half (1, 4, 17, 6 yards). Running back Cade Rodgers added a 3-yard Wildcat keeper, and receivers Ter’myihias Welch and Peyton Williams kept the chains moving with timely grabs. But the Jaguars faltered after the break, slowed by a fumbled kickoff and a failed fourth-down attempt.
Jonesboro’s defense toughened in the second half, led by edge rusher Eric Blocker, linebacker Noah Wendle, and safety Jacquez Jordan, who combined for tackles for loss and tight coverage to hold the Jaguars scoreless after halftime.
The victory marks the Hurricane’s first of the season, a momentum boost heading into conference play.
