PINE BLUFF — Maumelle bolted to a 42–0 halftime lead and cruised past Watson Chapel 42–0 on Friday, pairing a fast offense and a pass rush.
Junior quarterback Levi Warrior distributed efficiently, tossing four first‑half touchdown passes. Senior playmaker Marshaun Wiley turned shovel‑pass action into three scores, a staple that doubled as Maumelle’s ground game. Senior back Bubba Johnson hauled in a deep strike, and senior wideout Jackson Hampton added a red‑zone grab. The efficient Hornets never punted. Freshman kicker Dylan Moran went 6‑for‑6 on PATs. Senior defensive end Jordan Harris and junior edge Patrick Ward collapsed the pocket; junior linebacker Bryce Mooney added a sack, and sophomore corner Derious Glover’s late interception preserved the shutout.
Watson Chapel flashed fight in spurts. Senior quarterback Malachi Rayford’s mobility produced first downs after halftime, and sophomore receiver Jkenzye Miller made a contested sideline catch to extend a drive. Senior wideout Jayden Wilkerson worked downfield, while junior defensive lineman Brandon Brown and senior nose guard Jamarion Cosen generated pressure to stall a Hornet march before the break. But the Wildcats could not overcome the early avalanche of explosive plays.
Maumelle controlled the line of scrimmage, protected Warrior in plus territory and leveraged perimeter speed with Wiley’s quick‑hitting touches, finishing drives without a punt. Defensively, the Hornets forced hurried throws, kept the edge clean and limited chunk runs until a running clock shortened the second half. With the win, Maumelle stayed perfect in 5A‑Central play heading into a home date with Jacksonville next week.
