MARSHALL — Mountain View kept Marshall out of the end zone and scored four second-half touchdowns to pull away for a 43-0 victory Friday night.

The Yellowjackets led 15-0 at halftime before their running game produced more separation. A long reverse extended the margin in the third quarter, and an interception set up another touchdown drive. Mountain View added two fourth-quarter scores to complete the shutout on Marshall’s homecoming night.

Alaska McDaniel helped establish the ground game on Mountain View’s opening possession. He moved the chains with consecutive productive runs, while Noah Davis and George Rector contributed to a sustained drive. Mountain View reached the Marshall 10 and scored on an end-around two plays later. The extra point made it 7-0.

Marshall’s defense kept the game close through much of the first half. A high Mountain View snap pushed the Yellowjackets backward near the goal line, and the Bobcats intercepted a third-down pass to end that threat. Marshall could not turn the takeaway into points. A subsequent high punt snap forced the punter to retreat and scramble, resulting in a safety that increased Mountain View’s lead to 9-0.

The Yellowjackets scored again on a long quarterback keeper before halftime. The extra point missed, leaving the margin at 15. John Massey intercepted another Mountain View pass late in the second quarter, preventing the Yellowjackets from extending the lead further before the break.

Mountain View’s defense forced a punt on Marshall’s opening second-half possession. McDaniel supplied another substantial gain, and the Yellowjackets continued using misdirection to test the Bobcats’ pursuit. Their next touchdown came on a long reverse. The kick stretched the lead to 22-0 with approximately six-and-a-half minutes left in the third quarter.

An interception returned the ball to Mountain View. Rector converted a first down on a run around the left side. Micah Moore then broke loose from the Marshall 39 and reached the 8, recovering field position the Yellowjackets had lost to a penalty. After another Moore carry, a six-yard quarterback run and the extra point made it 29-0.

Marshall found occasional running room but could not sustain a scoring drive. Connor Miller made a third-quarter first-down reception, and Jerry Blair supplied consecutive fourth-quarter carries that moved the chains. Mountain View continued to close off possessions and kept adding points.

A touchdown run with 10:56 remaining in the fourth quarter increased the margin, and the Yellowjackets scored once more late in the game. The final extra point was good, completing a six-touchdown performance supported by the defense’s shutout and safety.
