Valley View 35, Paragould 0
Valley View opened 5A East play with a 35–0 road shutout at Ram Stadium on Friday, scoring on its second snap and never looking back. Senior receiver Camarion Davis turned a jet sweep into the tone‑setting touchdown, and junior quarterback Taylor Hyneman later powered in on a keeper. After halftime, junior RB/DB Carter Wallace broke the game open, finishing with three rushing scores and a two‑point conversion to start the mercy‑rule clock. A diving 33‑yard grab by senior wideout Parker King set up a short Wallace plunge, and the Blazer front five controlled the line in the second half. Valley View moved to 3–1 overall and 1–0 in 5A East. The Blazers controlled possession after halftime and consistently won first down to finish the job.
Paragould, unbeaten entering league play, had bright moments. Junior quarterbacks Avery Dearing and Reid Phillips split snaps, finding receivers Izaih Flowers and Jackquez Starnes on quick‑hitting concepts, while sophomore back Zedkeia Lanej churned out tough yards between the tackles. On defense, Flowers and A’Mare Williams made multiple open‑field stops that blunted several screens and perimeter runs. Paragould fell to 3–1, but its defense battled into the fourth quarter.
Valley View’s defense did the rest. Senior linebacker Ryder Wooten and junior linebacker Silas Thomas were frequent backfield visitors, while senior DB Rylan Ramsey ended a late‑half threat with an interception. Kicker Troy Dale converted three PATs and the Blazers missed a late 29‑yard field goal, but the offense’s balance and the defense’s discipline carried the night.
