Owens accounts for six touchdowns in Har-Ber victory

SPRINGDALE — Brice Owens accounted for six touchdowns, throwing three scoring passes and rushing for three touchdowns, as Har-Ber defeated Fort Smith Northside 45-14 Friday at Wildcat Stadium.
The Wildcats scored 31 consecutive points after Northside tied the game 7-7 early in the second quarter.
Defensive end Jackson Hammontree recorded a six-yard sack on Northside’s opening possession. Har-Ber then drove 56 yards, finishing with Owens’ 35-yard touchdown pass to receiver Grayre Graham with 7:12 left in the first quarter.
Northside answered with an 85-yard drive. Quarterback Jaseir Posey scored on fourth-and-goal from inside the 1, and Jonathan Romero’s extra point tied it with 9:53 remaining before halftime.
Reed McAllister’s 28-yard field goal restored Har-Ber’s lead. Owens followed with a 22-yard touchdown run, then connected with Breck Roach for a 48-yard score with 1:24 left. Har-Ber led 24-7 at halftime.
Owens found Roach for an eight-yard touchdown with 10:16 remaining in the third quarter. His four-yard scoring run, after gathering a low snap, extended the lead to 38-7 with 2:05 left.
Northside responded when Posey connected with receiver Jayden Charles for a 62-yard touchdown. Charles turned the completion over the middle into a scoring sprint, cutting the margin to 38-14 with 36 seconds remaining in the quarter.
Northside’s defense stopped a fourth-and-two quarterback run near midfield early in the fourth quarter.
Har-Ber answered defensively when linebacker Thaddeus Huckeba made a fourth-down tackle that returned possession to Har-Ber. The Wildcats drove 69 yards, converting fourth-and-one on Owens’ completion to Graham before Owens scored from four yards with 6:44 remaining.
McAllister made all six extra points and the field goal for nine kicking points. Charles later caught a 20-yard pass that moved Northside to the Har-Ber 30. Har-Ber’s defense forced a punt on Northside’s final possession, and the Wildcats ran out the clock.
