Parker scores twice as Northside defeats Russellville

Fort Smith Northside 42, Russellville 6

FORT SMITH — Keydarius Parker rushed for 99 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries, and Jaseir Posey threw two touchdown passes as Fort Smith Northside defeated Russellville 42-6 Friday at Mayo Thompson Stadium.

The Grizzlies scored 42 unanswered points after Russellville took a first-quarter lead.

Russellville’s defense forced a three-and-out on Northside’s opening possession. Talen Hindsman later connected with Parker Jackson for an 85-yard touchdown on third-and-seven with 4:35 left in the quarter. Russellville’s three-play scoring drive covered 88 yards in just 1:42. The conversion failed after a mishandled snap.

Northside answered with a six-play, 58-yard drive. Posey found tight end Cain Teague for a 14-yard touchdown, and Jonathan Romero’s kick put the Grizzlies ahead 7-6 with 2:11 remaining.

Parker’s 1-yard touchdown run finished a 10-play, 91-yard drive at 6:21 of the second quarter. Posey’s 24-yard keeper on third down set up the score.

Imani Marshall returned a blocked punt 14 yards for a touchdown with 3:57 before halftime. Posey added a 14-yard touchdown pass to Vonjay Johnson with one minute remaining, extending the lead to 28-6.

Neither team scored in the third quarter. Northside stopped Russellville’s fourth-and-three run at its own 19, while the Cyclones forced a punt and held another possession to a missed field goal.

Marcellus Olson’s 13-yard keeper converted fourth-and-three for Russellville early in the fourth. Northside subsequently recovered a fumble at the Cyclones’ 43.

Parker gained 37 yards on the next snap, then scored from the 6 with 9:02 remaining.

Boston Bishop added a 9-yard touchdown run after Northside stopped a punt attempt following a high snap. Romero made all six extra points.

Posey completed nine of 16 passes for 134 yards. Jackson caught two passes for 91 yards and a touchdown, and Luis Perez led Russellville with 57 rushing yards on 11 carries.
