Prater and McKillion lead Prescott past Horatio

Prescott 54, Horatio 0
HORATIO — Desmond Prater threw two first-quarter touchdown passes, Tiden McKillion scored twice on the ground and Prescott turned an early special-teams mistake into little more than a brief setback in a 54-0 victory over Horatio on Friday night.
The Curley Wolves led 21-0 after one quarter and 41-0 at halftime. Treyvion Evans supplied a defensive touchdown, and Prescott’s reserves added two second-half scores while protecting the shutout.
Horatio recovered the opening kickoff at Prescott’s 42 after the ball bounced away from the return team. The Lions could not capitalize. Jake Fricks stopped Isaiah Samuels behind the line, Brayden Sheets helped disrupt another rushing play and Brian Woodley finished the tackle. Kayden Gleason then helped contain a pitch to Joseph Fonseca, forcing Horatio to punt.
Owen Glass returned that punt about 25 yards to give Prescott useful field position. The offense still needed a fourth-down conversion before it could score. Prater found Rhett Cornish in the flat on fourth-and-five, and Cornish eluded a defender for a gain of about 19 yards. Prater followed with a touchdown pass to an uncovered Wes Cornelius, and Cornish’s extra point made it 7-0 with 8:23 left in the first quarter.
Evans extended the lead when Horatio quarterback Maddix Edwards lost the ball while being hit on a passing play. Evans recovered and took it into the end zone. Cornish’s kick made it 14-0 with 6:32 remaining.
Prescott’s next offensive possession covered 66 yards. Gleason helped move the ball to Horatio’s 46 before Prater hit Cornish, who made two defenders miss on his way to the end zone. Cornish added the extra point for a 21-0 lead with 2:32 left in the quarter.
Gleason scored on a counter run in the second quarter, increasing the advantage to 28-0 with 8:12 remaining. McKillion then broke loose on a 63-yard touchdown run, using a pair of stiff-arms before accelerating down the sideline. The extra point missed, leaving the score 34-0.
Glass supplied another productive punt return to set up Prescott’s last touchdown before halftime. Prater converted third-and-11 with a scramble, and McKillion finished the possession with his second touchdown run. Cornish’s kick made it 41-0.
Jacks Kisselburg recovered a third-quarter fumble to give Prescott another short field. Cornish, now playing quarterback, completed a pass to Damian Galceran before Andrew Willingham scored on a 16-yard run. Kisselburg added a 30-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter, breaking multiple tackles to complete the scoring.
Horatio found some late completions from Fonseca to Samuels, but Prescott’s defense kept the Lions out of the end zone. The Curley Wolves travel to Camden Harmony Grove next.
