Robinson Outlasts Farmington in 5A Quarterfinal Thriller

Robinson 24, Farmington 21
A short field goal from junior kicker William Tait with 1:03 remaining lifted Joe T. Robinson past Farmington 24–21 in a tense 5A quarterfinal Friday at Charlie George Stadium.
Robinson (12–0) mounted the winning drive after its defense finally forced a Farmington punt, leaning on a committee of backs after star senior Kevin “Deuce” Williams left with a leg injury. Versatile junior Charles “Trey” Petty and senior Isiah “Tank” Reese churned out tough yards to set up Tait’s go‑ahead kick.
Before exiting, Williams, a senior FS/RB, powered the Senators’ offense with two rushing touchdowns and multiple explosive runs, including a 98‑yard march from their own two. Senior receiver Josiah Warrior‑Benson(WR/QB) supplied the tying score early in the fourth quarter, hauling in a leaping touchdown from junior quarterback Reece Simpson.
Farmington (9–3) rode senior dual‑threat quarterback Ayden Lester (QB/FS), who accounted for two touchdowns—a scrambling run and a swing‑pass score to junior running back Jordan Logue. Lester repeatedly extended plays behind an experienced line, finding senior wideout Dawson Keaton and junior receivers Akin Johnsonand Brady Richards over the middle to keep drives alive.
Robinson’s defense answered late. Senior linemen Deminio Patterson and Lennox Campos generated pressure up front, while junior end Zach Compton recorded a crucial fourth‑quarter sack that helped force Farmington’s lone punt. Defensive backs Kaylon Norwood and Jaiden Todd added key break‑ups as the Senators held the Cardinals scoreless over the final quarter.
Robinson advances to host Morrilton next week with a trip to War Memorial Stadium on the line.
