SEARCY — Searcy surged early, then held off a furious Valley View comeback to win 37-27 Friday night at Lion Stadium.

Quarterback Jacob Miles powered the Lions with four touchdown passes, two to Will Manning, and added timely scrambles to extend drives. Running back Cooper Jones chipped in a short touchdown run and a 30-yard field goal. Defensively, Derrick Young grabbed a first-quarter interception, while Deandre Shockley added a key pick before halftime.

Valley View battled behind quarterback Taylor Heinman, who ran for a score and tossed two second-half touchdown passes to Levi Manning. Running back Carter Wallace sparked the rally with a 43-yard touchdown burst and finished with several explosive runs. The Blazers flipped momentum with two second-half takeaways, trimming a 34-7 deficit to 37-27, but stalled deep in Searcy territory late in the fourth.

Searcy’s opening-half precision passing attack proved too much, though Valley View’s resilience and playmaking showed why both programs expect deep runs this fall.
