Sexton’s three rushing touchdowns lead Quitman past Conway Christian, 42–19
Jack Sexton rushed for three touchdowns and threw another as Quitman defeated Conway Christian 42–19 Friday at Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs improved to 3–0 and retained the Centennial Bank rivalry trophy.
Sexton carried five times for 110 yards and completed five of six passes for 118 yards. Jaydan Owens caught two passes for 81 yards and scored twice, once receiving and once returning a punt. Game statistics
Conway Christian scored on its first offensive snap when Creed Hildebrand took a handoff through the middle and reached the end zone. Matthew Corbin’s extra point gave the Eagles a 7–0 lead just 18 seconds into the game.
Quitman answered with Sexton’s 16-yard keeper and Jackson Boyd’s tying extra point. Sexton then connected with Owens for a 69-yard touchdown, putting the Bulldogs ahead 14–7 with 8:26 remaining in the first quarter.
Sexton added a 79-yard touchdown run with 6:06 left. Frank Hopkins recovered a Conway Christian fumble on the next possession, setting up Sexton’s one-yard touchdown and a 28–7 lead at the 4:04 mark.
Malachi Goodroe scored from one yard out on the opening play of the second quarter. Owens followed with a 60-yard punt return touchdown. Boyd’s sixth extra point made it 42–7 with 10:42 remaining before halftime.
Goodroe finished with three carries for 24 yards. Dylan McThorn added 54 yards on 11 carries and caught an 18-yard pass.
Conway Christian added two second-half touchdowns. Hildebrand scored his second rushing touchdown in the third quarter. Tristan Johnson later completed a pass to Corbin to move the Eagles near the goal line, and Chase Culpepper finished the drive with a touchdown run.
Quitman blocked both second-half extra points, with Hunter Milam credited on the fourth-quarter attempt. Caden Harneck and Braiden Riley also combined for stops behind the line during two separate second-quarter Conway Christian possessions.
